its cheaper this way than with a flame thrower kit. lol but its safer to run too rich than too lean. I've got completely new exhaust ready to go on the car, I just dont have enough down time to get it installed. and the 86 has priority right now.

LS1's are boring. thats why we put a carb on this one. and dropped it in an 86. lol

we are putting a Strange S60 rear end with 3.73s in the car in the fall. then moving on to the rest of the suspension and getting the rest of the GFX for the car. tho with the broken bumper and only partial gfx, it is a total sleeper.

But I would rather run a little lean anyway. With a little positive displacement on top.

the LS1 is only in there to get the car up and running with a V8. after the car is ready AND my wallet is ready an LSX 454 (maybe more) is getting dropped in there.

turns out, Josh didnt hook the vacuum line up for the brake booster when we did the head gaskets... which is why it was such a pain to get it started at first.

Since when have you seen an LS1 shoot 3 foot flames out of the exhaust

lol

(knowing my luck probably alot)

Noob question:
What are the effects of carb-ing an LS1? (vs. fuel injected ones)

actually, this combo proved around 10-15 hp on the dyno over efi LS1. but besides it being cool, we can swap the carb out to a bigger one anytime we want to and dont have to hook up the computer to retune it. just play around a little, easier to change the timing curve... just plug in a new chip.

and its a budget build project car. a cheap carb and intake for $800.00 over the $1500.00+ that we would have spent if we had gone EFI.

More tuneablility, that makes sence. (I pulled that word out of my @$$)

Plus it's just really cool.

That's something I want to do in the future. It's amazing how mutch the engine changes just by putting a carb on it. Almost a different engine.

not a whole lot more tuneability per se. full computer tuning plus hours on the dyno would allow me to pull every last bit of power out of this motor, but the cool factor is still there. our next project is an LSX 454. (tho I'd prefer to build an LSX 440 running about 14:1 cr and pushing north of 600hp.
