Angry Hoping for Karmic Retribution >.<

I've had my car now for 11 days... since then someone appears to have backed into it and caused damage to the rear bumper and just now while at a dead stop at a stop sign within my apartment community - someone makes a right turn and then clips behind the wheel on the rear driver's side.

Knowing full well what they did... their course of action was to:

1) Speed up
2) Get the hell out of dodge before I can take a photo of their license plate (was a crappy Toyota Corolla with the back right rear stop light plastic broken to reveal a white light)

I was going to follow them but they were driving like a bat out of hell to avoid me catching them - I'd rather not further agitate them to cause potentially fatal damage to someone else in the process. The clipping didn't even move my vehicle so I had assumed it to be some minor scratches at most.

I checked the damage and the scratches are so tiny that I could barely even notice them. Had some of the other driver's rubbery-residue from his bumper on it, but... thankfully... I didn't see any serious damage. I'll have to check again in the morning when there's natural light out, but I think it'll be good.

What is wrong with people??? :(

At least let me have my car for a month before you start bumping into it. SHEESH!

You're a better man than I. I wouldn't have been thinking of innocent bystanders at just that moment. I'd have taken full advantage of my 426 ponies, caught up to their sorry ass and reported them to the police.

Half my accidents the other party bailed. Its just a mad world we live in. Cops wont do much since no one was hurt the other diver will just say they didn't know.

I found the last person that caused my car damage, on my own since the cops didnt care.

Now Im fighting with their insurance company trying to lowball me, they also know it's simple economics as they want to fight about $700 and no lawyer will take that case unless I pay them up front bigger money.

Plain and simple, from now on I have an accident my back hurts. Its an ace in the hole you can use to get what you want.

Yeah - roommate suggested I report them to the cops but all I have is it was a shitty Toyota Corolla with a busted out rear right tail light... no one was hurt and there's barely any damage at all. I have to seriously look hard to see the little tiny scratch. Figured the police wouldn't do anything but if I had their plate # I'd definitely call just for the hit and run aspect of it.

well keep your eyes peeled, they may just live in the same apartments.

sounds like a no-insurance case though

I've noticed that all the accidents that Camaro's are being involved in are against imports... specifically Hondas and Toyotas.

I'm at the point now where if I see another Chevrolet vehicle (even giant Suburbans) near me I feel as if it'll all be ok. If I see some Japanese import near me, though, I get all nervous.

even if you had the plate number likely the cops do nothing. Here in socal the cops don't even do anything for stolen cars, they treat it like a traffic ticket now. A neighbor of mine had his van stolen and found it and who did it and cops simply didn't care, bigger fish to fry I guess. Bottom line this is what insurance is for, unless somebody was injured trying to chase down a hit and run is pointless, cops don't care unless somebody was critically injured.

If the guy that hit you is the type to run then you probably don't want to find them if you know what I mean. They are likely criminals, do you want that kind of scum to know your address ? Are you prepared to get into a gun fight when you track them down ? Just let it go and let insurance handle it, cops are worthless for traffic incidents unless a death is involved.

I hear yah on the severity of it; while the scratch can likely be buffed out no problem - chances are this is the type of lowlife that would flee from a crash scene where significant damage/injury was caused. Even if it wasn't involved with me, I'd definitely do my part and report them if I had the information. I can't go through life being preemptively nervous about doing what's right - mass apathy would be a terrible, terrible thing!

I am so sick of people whinning about the COPS DOING NOTHING. Its always the ones that whine that are the first to call for help. Let me guess, all the ones that are whinning work a 9-5 job sitting behind a safe little desk in their safe little office. All of you whinners should try to do that job for one day....you wouldn't last an hour.

As a police officer and K-9 handler for 14yrs, Thank you!!! I used to get all worked up about statements made by non-cops, but I no longer care. The point is that nobody can or will understand unless you do that job. Although unfortunate, if a small scratch on your car is the worst thing that ever happens to you, consider yourself lucky and blessed!
