Not necessarily. I am a Software Engineer II at a small company in DFW and I am the highest paid employee in the company just below the President/Owner.

So, if I understood correctly... Become a software engineer and you will have a great life haha.
Almost all people in here are that.
Not a ZL1 owner, but I do 50k USD a year (65k CAD). I could afford an SS with this. But I prefer having a house, some savings for my retirement and some cash on the side for hobbies (woodworking). I have opportunities to go up at work, not much, but still. Maybe I'll have the chance to upgrade the car in the future!
Btw, I didn't vote. So I am not in the low incomes and not screwing the data in the poll haha.

I’ve often wondered what folks do for a living that drive ZL1’s, Hellcats, or GT 350s. I live in a pretty low income state, yet my neighbors drive lifted $80,000 Brodozers, or Hellcats, and I’ve seen one guy driving a ZL1. Between my wife and I, we make $220,000+ a year. We are in our mid to late 30s without any kids. We did just build a new house, but other than that we have little debt. I always wonder if I should be driving a more expensive vehicle. Maybe I can use the info in this poll to persuade my wife to let me trade my SS to a ZL1 lol.

I think its a generation gap thing.
Every generation has its thing that separates it from the previous.
I think mine (I'm 40) was the personal computer and the internet.
I was an early adopter of both. My parents don't know how to turn a computer on.

I think social media is insane, but I do love the ease of sharing photos with family and friends and staying in touch.

However, every teenager saying they want to be a Youtuber when they grow up makes me sick.
I’m a few years younger than you, so I’m not some old guy that’s super disillusioned with our society or anything. I’m technically part of that made up generation known as Xenials (you know, the small gap between gen X’ers and Millinials). That makes me cynical and tech savvy, lol. So I grew up with computers. I think I was in 6th or 7th grade when we got AOL. Forums and chat rooms were part of growing up for me. I have friends around the world because of them.

I thought stuff like MySpace and FB were great in the early days. Same with YouTube. I’ve watched them all transform over the years. YouTube was fantastic; now it’s full of monetized click-bait. Maybe I am finally getting old?

Glass Door doesn't show stock grants.
Grants are different than options.
Stock options may be worth something someday and you buy them discounted.
Stock grants are worth something today and they're given to you, no need to purchase.

A great deal of my income is in the form of stock grants.

Actually I'm Software Engineer VII.

You can't go by title alone, it varies from company to company.
A lot of companies over inflate titles to stay competitive with larger companies.

For example Level IV at a startup might be Level III at a larger tech company like Facebook, Google, Apple, etc.

Titles are actually really dumb, just ignore them and do good work

Best of luck to you...I'm in one of the top brackets and I still have a hard time convincing my wife My only saving grace is I have two boys that are also into cars...makes it slightly more wife friendly. It also doesn't help that I put on a Borla ATAK system and it rattles the entire house when I start it

Yep, I think you're old now hahah J/K

Everyone will try to monetize and monetization ruins everything, but its also what keeps things going.

Youtube is still an amazing tool to learn anything you want to know.

I am a Lineman in Canada and turning 50 this year. Great trade. My wife and I are in the $200+ category. We are taxed to death !! Married 23 yrs, 2 daughters, one married and one still in university. Worked a ton of overtime every year and spent 90% of my married life on the road. Have a nice house on acreage, motorhome, truck, sled, zl1 and other toys. We do annual vacations and pay for our kids education. What you earn and what you have are 2 different things. I worked hard for my lifestyle, worked OT whenever I could and was blessed with a wonderful woman who hates shopping, doesn't drink or smoke, is the worlds best mother and supported me in all my hobbies.
We made good decisions and invested lots. Now I am looking at early retirement with no debt and toys to play with. The key to our success was "living within our means" ! We always saved to buy 50% toys and then paid them off quickly. Paid off cc every month, etc. We were never mortgage broke or bought things we couldn't afford. haven't lived pay check to pay check for a long time. we are neither rich or poor. We are happy. We are having fun. And I drive a 2018 ZL1 A10. Life couldn't be any better !!

There are members that make more then the 1M on your poll, you may need to update poll, and there are members that buy in cash and don't make what your poll has on it.
