Open latch message

When I unlatch the top, and press the button to lower the top, I get a message on the dash that says "unlatch top" even though it is already unlatched. The dealership says it needs a whole new latch mechanism which is $459 installed. This seems high. Does the whole mechanism need to be replaced, or is there some less expensive way to fix this?

Thanks for the info, but this seems to be the opposite of what I have. This is saying "top not secure" when the top is up. My top won't go down.

Clean out the micro switch area maybe? Maybe some debris preventing movement?

Thanks. I will see if anything can be done with that. But the top won't go down, so I don't think I can get in there.

Yea you can manually open the top. The car should of came with the tool to do so. There is a spot between the seat for the tool.
