Engine bay making scratching/tapping noise v6

Car history

I had a TPMS warning pop up for the past year. I've ignored it since my tires were always inflated.

About a week ago, I noticed a tapping noise from the engine bay at high rpms 4k-ish. They would come and go. This also happened after a day of heavy rain.

This morning during my commute, the noise turned into scratching noise. I would lose power and the car became sluggish. I would also randomly get a service stabilitrack and a couple of other lights to turn on. I have a CEL but I'll need to wait until the afternoon for the code.

Any ideas? I think its an electric issue.

I'm just guessing here, but in the first video it really sounds like a bad connecting rod for one of the pistons, second vid sounds like the same. Or a broken rocker arm. Either way that's not good!!

Thanks for the replies!

O crap, I was hoping it wasn't an internal engine issue.

Yep. The last time I had an engine back in the day sound like that, a wrist pin clip broke and the wrist pin slid out and was hitting the cylinder wall making that banging sound. Didn't break anything, but really messed up the wall pretty bad. Had to have if bored over and sleeved to fix it.

Mechanic said it was rod knock. The car now sounds worse than the video. $13k to get the car fix. I estimate that car has a roughly $15k trade in value. I ended up selling it to a dealer for $5k. I could had probably made a couple of K more or tried a creative repair but I'm approaching my 40s and I would rather just be done with it. Thanks everyone that looked and offered their opinion. This was a v6 auto, I think it's time for a v8 (or v10 ) manual.
