Since my car was in service for the replacement speaker I have been doing as the audio tech there suggested and deleted my phone from the bluetooth audio system and just paired it with the regular hands free phone and so far I am on day 4 with no static interference. Also the speakers are blowing out on a lot of peoples BA systems since they are on national backorder so I do not know when it will even come in so now I need to bring it in again eventually. There was also a recall that I did not know about for a reflash of the ECU to reduce brake assist on the v6's...wierd stuff. But at least so far we are static free!

I just upgraded to iOS4.0.2 available now for iPod touch. The USB connection is working great now. The iPod itself also runs much faster.

I was actually only getting the 'unsupported data' message before. Then I upgraded to 4.0.2 and now I also experience the screeching static, which I didn't have before.

I just upgraded to 4.0.2 and still getting that terrible screeching sound after a few moments of play. The bluetooth is working fine but sucks not being able to use the radio/steering wheel controls to skip songs.

Just want to chime in here. Having same issues.
Worked fine prior to upgrade (except for aforementioned playlist slowness). Soon as I upgraded, get through about 1-3 songs, then crashes. Happens usually right after a switch to a new song, either in rotation or by doing it manually. It stays stuck on the song, you can't manually move to next track using steering wheel or radio-face controls. If you switch to AM/FM/XM then go back, it's still stuck there on that song. Stays like that for a bit, then you get the error message. From what I can tell, is that the interface system doesn't like how Apple is communicating with it. Needs a thorough rewrite to specifically communicate with iOS on older devices. Either that, or Apple needs to rewrite their end, but I highly doubt that will happen. I'm not getting a different device just for the car, that's half the point of having an iPhone, everything is in one device you always have with you. And half the point of the USB package on the camaro is to be able to connect that device to it. I know the GM guys are reading this, and thank them for looking into it. Just wanted to confirm it's still real, and a bummer. The connectivity package was a big point for me going with a 2LT, and it's pretty much hosed right now for what I use it for. A fix, and official explanation to dealers once it's done, would be nice, so they know WTF I'm talking about when I bring it in. I've had more than one not have a clue what I'm talking about when I ask to check if my radio has the latest firmware already.

If you are playing your music through an iPhone.. You are highly likely to have a disruptive signal due to the fact it is a phone. If you want excellent quality audio with a very limited amount of errors... I would highly recommend you to go into your setting on your iPhone and turn "airplane mode" on. This disables the phone function on the iPhone and allows you to be able to hear your music crisp and clear.. Only detractor.. Can't make a phone call or surf the web.. Your choice.. Phone while driving.. or crisp clear hassle free music..

^ I'll have to try that. I had a 3GS before this 4 and I never had this screeching problem with the old one though

Airplane mode on or off doesn't fix the screeching.
I still have my 3G and 3GS and right now the 3GS is the only one that seems to work now after all the updates. But my 3GS is running ios 4.1 beta x so it seems it's fixed on apple's side. The list items still get screwed up every now and then, but nowhere as much as before. My iPhone 4 and iPad don't work at all with the USB interface, have to use bluetooth or nothing. So hopefully when the final version of 4.1 comes out in a few days everything will be fixed for all versions of the iPhone. |
