5th Bow Break - Fourth time top is operated

ARGH! I should have resisted the SS temptation and took faith in all the problems here. The car was manufactured 3-22-12, I took delivery 4-12-12, and operated the top 3 times..everything fine. I was out of town over the weekend. I opened the top a few minutes ago and then closed it. The infamous gap is there. The 5th bow broke on the 4TH time the top was operated!! Talk about major remorse. This is exactly why I stayed away from GM since purchase of a brand new 1985 Trans AM that was a mechanical Lemon/disaster. Sorry for the venting, but I am MAD.

Wow!!!! Can't blame you one bit!!! I would've thought all those problems had been solved by March 2012!!!

Hope they do right by you.......GM's rep is really going down the crapper because of these convertible top issues.

Welcome and sorry to hear about your issues. I, as well as many others, certainly understand your frustration. My 5th bow broke the very FIRST time I put the top down, so I know where you're coming from. 64 miles on it at the time.

There's tons of good information here and while some of it is extremely depressing at times, there is plenty of info that is encouraging. I frequent this site in hopes that I can continue to "keep the faith", but sometimes it's difficult.

Also very sorry to hear of your issues.

I must be one of the lucky ones than.My 5th bow broke at approx. 4000 miles. and probably had about 100 cycles on the top.
no warning,no noise, just broke.
I just hope the replacement bows and other parts are better in quality than the initial parts.
My vert has since had the 5th bow replaced and top enhancement tsb done, but time will tell if the fix applied to my top is a good one.

This is why my mom didn't get a 45th Convertible; the top issues are keeping her and a couple other people I know from buying them. Pretty pathetic on GM's part, really, and that is something I never say about GM. They should have a new supplier and a fixed top by now IMO.

Colorado, I'm sorry to hear about this. If you haven't had your vehicle checked by your dealer I would suggest that be your first step. If they aren't able to correct this for you let me know and I'll do everything I can to help you.
