Nothing beats a nice on-ramp 3rd gear pull. Another enjoyable moment is when you make that perfect rev matched downshift while exiting one of those off ramps with a nice bend in it and then accelerate right to the limit of tire grip as you feel all the blood rush to one side of your body due to the lateral g force. The rest of trip is usually stuck at a light or in traffic. :-(.

Love 2nd, love 3rd too.
Hate 6th. Nice if you are surfing the web while steering with your knee on the highway while eating a whopper. |

136/137, just tried. You were right. Hit the limiter and it held at 136, held it foot down for about a second. It could probably squeeze 137/138 if I held it longer.

3rd. Goes from dead stop to triple digits. Perfect backroad gear, never have to shift. 4th goes past "jail speed" and enters the "shoot him on sight" zone.

This is like asking which pet is your favorite. To answer the question, I pick 3rd gear. From 25 to triple digits!

1st, 2nd, and 3rd from starting from a dead launch. 4th is the bonus when your serious on the high rev matching and torque sweet spots. I typically leave the traction control on around busy streets/highways. Too much risk vs reward with others around, street poles, curbs etc. I take the traction control off and put in competitive mode around rural or canyon passes/roads. 5th gear is in moderate highway traffic and drop to 4th for extra punch around traffic. 6th is long cruising and lighter highway traffic for me and sipping fuel for milage.
I think for most that track everything is off by pressing the traction control button for 10 seconds and watch for the prompt to flash for all off. I have done that a few times running hard in the canyons but the comp mode keeps me honest in keeping the car from getting to lose or push before entry in the curves and adding power back on at midpoint/end of the curves. Comp seems to detect a wheel spin on any tire and adjusts the braking to the individual rotors.. at least in my opinion.. what it feels like in the seat too me. GM has done a hell of good job on the 1LE in its rear end 3.91 and the adjustments in the tranny for general purpose of cruising and being still a trackable car.. Oh what fun for sure!! Not to mention the tire selection and suspension.. and the bad ass look as it sits idle.. Last edited by Ventura 2015 1LE; 10-03-2015 at 03:27 AM. |

I've never had a car with such a wicked fourth gear.

As slow and fat as these cars are without extensive modding, any gear besides 1st is extremely boring to me. First gear will get the back end kicked out and put you in the seat pretty good, 2nd is ok I guess, but the car feels just meh after that... 4th gear does offer a lot of nice passing power though for regular cruising on the street.

Gotta love that 3rd gear pull from 73 -107mph! Too many imports and Dodges have been stunned from the 6th to 3rd downshift. They instantly fall behind about 2-3 car lengths, if not more. Only went through 4th to 5th at 143mph to prove at point to a BRZ that they do not have the best drivers car! : ) Like to shut it down after taking 3rd to the top, like someone said, 4th gets you into jail territory. I guess my tune lets me get a little mph on my shifts.
