Head lights shutting off

I have a 2010 SS, the headlights started shutting off while I was driving. Both headlights shut off at the same time. If I play with the high/low beams they come back on.... Someone please give me some ideas......

Thanks Dan

Can you provide some more details?

Do you have them on "auto" or turned on manually?
Do you have halo or standard lamps? (Rs vs non-RS)?

I typically have them set in auto, but moving that switch won't turn them on... When I hit the high beam switch they will come back on. They are standard headlight and not the RS lights. I have had HID bulbs for over 2 years... Replaced once a while back.... Once again both lights go out when it happens

Perhaps the HID bulbs are pulling too much current and a circuit breaker is tripping. Its just a guess from here but if the car did not come with HID bulbs then the electrical circuit was not designed to handle that load. Again just a guess, but something to consider.

The HID's have been on the car for atleast 2 years... Current bulbs atleast 3 months, would they progressively draw more?

I had a charger hard wired directly to the battery for a Streamlight flashlight in the trunk of my old car for over two years. Suddenly it started draining my battery to the point where it would kill the charge in it if the car wasn't driven every day, like I wouldn't drive it on my days off and when I went to go to work on the 3rd day, the battery was dead. Neither the mechanic or I could figure out why it suddenly started draining the battery like that, but now when I go to hook it up in the Camaro, it will be from a switched power source. That's what I had to do in my last car to get everything to work right.

I am stumped, but an obvious first step would be to return to stock bulbs.

Unfortunately, modern electric circuits are complex and involve circuit boards and logic, not just wiring and fuses. Using non-standard parts can have unintended consequences, and this forum is packed with such stories. Just not you particular one.

I have a 2011 camaro rs with HID lights. The driver side light will come on for 15 seconds or so then go off. The halo light is on. Passenger side is fine. I take it off of auto and it turns back on then 15 seconds later it's off. Any suggestions?
