SO, update.

After 4 trips to the dealer, and 3 overnighters- they finally heard the tap. AND CALLED IT PISTON SLAP. WHAT THE F_CK.

The tech claims that the sound did not last long enough for be the lifters, and is NORMAL. HOWEVER, since we have plenty of warranty left, we should keep an eye on it... WHAT THE F_CK????????

Pretty f_cking irritated right now guys.

This predictable outcome is exactly why I have not bothered with the dealer.

I don't think a few seconds of lifter tapping at start-up is gonna hurt anything. It's not worth the hassle unless it gets worse.

I think you should try to not worry, and "drive it like you stole it" for 100,000 miles!

some techs/dealers just don't want to be bothered with major work done under warranty..they don't make as much money and they hate doing the paperwork to submit to GM. But the god thing is, you already have the problem documented in their system and even if the SAME problem eventually gets so bad after your warranty expires, it would still be covered because you started the documentation and the lack of corrective repairs during the warranty period.

AFM and not wanting to tune was one reason I went with the M6. Sorry you are having to go through this. Maybe you could be our sacrificial lamb. Tune the car, drive it like you would as if nothing was wrong, when it finally breaks, put your stock tune back on, and take er in. Many of us no-tuners would be grateful for taking one for the team. I'm not brave enough.

But just remember what happens to the lamb in the end.:(

:( Not happy that GM is putting me in this position to start with....

All I know is I plan to have some fun with this car regardless. I had better not let me down....................... :(

Revo, sorry I didn't read the entire thread but you saying GM is putting you through this...you sure it isn't the dealer that is unwilling to put in the time to fix it? Has the regional GM rep been contacted? If not, talk to the dealer and find out when is the next time the regional rep is making a visit (the regional rep makes scheduled visits at dealerships in his area) and schedule your car for the same day and speak with the rep. Many times, people blame GM when the problem is at the dealer level. Again, sorry if you already mentioned that GM was already involved.

This, right here. This is the problem. may have to contact GM directly, but frankly pretty sick of the whole thing. Sigh.
