trunk power

My trunk will not open with either the button in the car or the button on the fob. The fuse is good, also the chime dings for about 10 seconds then stops for a couple of minutes and then does it again. It is a 2011 ss conv. any thoughts? Thanks in advance

There is a relay that should click. I can hear mine go somewhere under my dash. (Not sure which panel it is). Try replacing the relay.

Then could be the latch mechanism/actuator itself. Could be jammed. Try releasing it manually using the glow in the dark handle in the trunk.

I thought the same thing in regards to using the emergency release handle. However, he has a convertible and I'm not sure he has access through the back seat like the coupes have.

OP: If you do have access to the trunk through the back seat, I would start by using the emergency release in the trunk to open it and start by checking the latch mechanism.

Good luck

I had the same issue you are having. I ended up having to replace the trunk latch, which was not cheap. Good luck.

Had this happen to me. Brother slammed trunk closed and trunk open message was shown. Used emergency release and everything worked fine afterwards. Hoping you can access your trunk from backseat.

Oh yeah didn't think about that with convertible. They just have a pass through or something.

Gm must have a way of opening the trunk though...Maybe remove fender well and the pop the vent out to get your arm in there. I dunno

The verts have a lock cylinder hidden next to the rear seatback on the left (driver's side) which I think is a mechanical release.
It is in the owner's manual.

The relay is in the instrument panel fuse block second down center.

trunk

I am able to open the trunk with the key in the slot behind the seat. Also the relay is good. I would think the release is o.k. because I can open the trunk with the key. Does anyone know what the deal is with the chime ringing?

Same thing happened to me a little less than two years ago. There is a TSB for the trunk latch and there is an updated part number. Dealer fixed it at no cost.

My 2011 SS was recently broken into. They left the trunk open, the factory alarm did not go off. Strange thing now is, the door button does not work, but the gob does aren't they the same relay? And how the hell did they break in?!!

Your trunk latch might just need adjusting... pretty simple.
