My wife and I plan on going out of Corpus Christi. We are hoping to hook up with folks on I-10 somewhere in the Houston area. A friend of ours is going to try go also in his Camaro. A Texas convoy would be great!!

I could probably make it in 13 to 14 hours.

I'm just sayin....ya know

My original plan (before the convoy) was to leave here at 7am and get there no later than 10pm at the host hotel on Thursday. That way, we would have all morning to sleep in. However, if we are going to be doing a convoy...and people would want to stop along the way...

....then I suggest leaving a bit later to get better sleep, and parking it after about 10 hours of driving.,..,,stay the night...and finish up the following day getting to the hotel at noon'ish. Check in is later. But, ....

...I mean...I'm VERY tempted to just do the entire trip in one day. Sure, I'll be tired. But, I GET TO SLEEP IN!!!

I think most (at least Dallas, south Texas and west Texas) will head out IH10 east through Houston seeing as it's a straight shot for the most part.

From San Antonio it's about a 900 plus mile hike and figure about 15-16 hours. I plan on leaving Thursday, 15 April around 9 am and hitting Houston around 12. Figure we could all meet up for lunch there (need to figure out a rally point) and then caravan in to Mississippi on the Gulf Coast (Biloxi MS)for a night's stay and hit up the casinos for the night?? We should be in MS in about 6 or 7 hours from Houston...puts us in there to eat and play around the casinos around 7/8 that night? Head out on Friday morning around 9 am and then hit check in at about 2 or 3 in the afternoon. About 6 hours of driving on Friday.

Thoughts? Anyone want to help get this together? I know this is my plan and if anyone wants to join in post up...should be a good time!!
This sounds like an awesome idea to me!!! Unfortunately, I don't have definite plans yet to be able to attend, but if I do, this sounds like an added bonus of a good time, and lots of fun!!!

Anyone else want to weigh in on this as a possible option? Maybe we could get two convoys going, those that would like to do this, and those that prefer a straight trip? Or we could merge them in Biloxi possibly?

We could certianly work out two convoys and then merge them in Biloxi!

I think this (stopping in Biloxi) would be a good time for all...call ahead and get rooms in the same hotel and then hit up the buffet...gamble a bit and then hit the bed! Wake up around 7 or 8 and get on the road about 9 am...hit registration right when it opens and then have the night to BS with everyone!

No problem driving in one day but seems like a long haul to make in a day and then with how much is going on all weekend only to turn around and drive it back in one day...man, that will be a killer! Talk about being wore out!

Thoughts?

We should fix up 2 convoys (one to drive straight through and one with an overnight stop somewhere) so folks in LA and MS will know when we are coming through and join up.

Convoy 1) Leave Thurs morning and stop overnight in Mobile
Convoy 2) Leave EARLY Friday morning and be in Mobile at the same time the first group is ready to leave for ATL... and we all arrive together Fri afternoon sometime.

Well it says the drive time from cut n shoot to Valdosta is barley 14 hrs. That's if you go 105 east not through Houston. I hate driving two days in a row like we did for Daytona so I think we are going straight through. We should make it there by nineish I think. And thanks I'm super excited!
