Anybody know anything? ZL1/GT500

Saw this on another site. Anybody from this site know anything about it?

I know if it was mine, I wouldn't be beating on it so soon after taking delivery, but I do know plenty of folks who have done so with other performance cars.

I tend to agree with most posters on that forum, it was probably an SS with the ZL1 facia. What are the odds that out of the amount of cars delivered so far, one just happens to race a GT500 in front of that guy.

Like DietCoke said, it was probably a V6/SS car with a ZL1 front.
The chances of a ZL1 and GT500 lining up next to eachother is still extremely rare right now. I doubt it has even happened......

Who's white ZL1 was this in FL?

I read on another board that a white ZL1 took on a 12 GT500 on the highway and lost. Nothing documented on what was done or anything like that, just a eyewitness who happened to be driving down the road and saw it

I am pretty sure that the GT500 wasn't stock. I would like to see what would happen after a little pully swap on the Z

You are way late......

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=215139

Also the answer to your question, it depends whether or not the the GT500 is pushing a smaller amount of HP over stock or pushing 750 RWHP which the 5.4 can easily handle....

And it begins. That didn't take long. Looks like one of our former mustang brothers is trying to be the stir stick. I know I can't wait to see a real race between the two in a real race track.

Put up or shut up, I say... in my field, we call BS like that "hearsay."

If it had occurred anywhere other than southwest Florida, I would tend to agree that the poster was simply trying to stir the proverbial pot. However, I lived in that area for a couple of years and I can tell you by experience that seeing exotics and higher end vehicles like the ZR1, GT500, GT3, etc. hitting it up on interstates/highways are an everyday occurrence. Did it actually happen as the poster described? We'll never truly know but if there was a part of the country where the likelihood would be high, the Dallas area, Houston area or SW Florida would be at the top of my list.

I'm sure some of our members who currently live in those areas will concur.

I doubt it happened for one, and I don't think that the mustang would get the jump unless it was modified.

Expound, please? General concensus on this and other sites is that a 2011-12 GT500 would have the advantage over a ZL1 in a roll race.

Well for one just looking at the amount of people on C5 who ordered a white zl1 that number seems rather low, if that trend is consistent that makes the odds even less likely, then you have to think about it as a 2012 gt500 that has been out for a year, if they are willing to street race in general (especially against a new ZL1) then they probably have the confidence to modify it. The odds seem against it IMO.

(Just from the listed vins I counted 13 SW Zl1 out of 103? A little over 10 percent and I have yet to hear of one being delievered)
