what up guys new to this site
i have a 2010 camaro ss but i have the gm performance one it has a placker under the hood on top of the grill. with the gm performance mufflers do u guys no what that mean
and also how do u tell what type of engine u have

That badge was on all the early 2010 SS's. It went away because GM disbanded the Performance division in bankruptcy, but I guess they brought them back together for the ZL1 development, because those badges reappeared on the 2012+ ZL1s and on the 2013+ SSs. Those badges have nothing to do with your mufflers. Those mufflers are an "over the counter" item and were never factory installed on any Camaros.

All SSs have 6.2 V8s, but the automatics get L99s w/AFM(Active Fuel Management) and VVT(Variable Valve Timing), rated at 400hp. The manuals get LS3s w/o AFM and VVT, rated at 426hp.

There's a sticker in your trunk with all your options listed on it as RPO(Regular Production Option) codes. If you want to know exactly what options your car has, take a picture of it and google the codes.

You probably also have the GM Chicklets on the lower front fender unless the previous owner took them off.
I think the GM performance division was disbanded before the bankruptcy as a cost cutting measure to delay bankruptcy a little longer.

The GM Performance Division emblems are back & sometimes people install the emblems aftermarket. In 2010 the emblem didn't mean anything special vs. other Camaro SS's. It was a neat plaque to have help's add a little to engine compartment appearance but that's all. The GM Performance mufflers were probably installed aftermarket by the previous owner. All 2010 Camaro SS's with a vin under #60,000 had front fender GM "chicklet" emblems and the GM performance division emblem under the hood. Those cars on 2SS trim cars also had plugs behind the dash inserts for the dash ambient lighting that GM ended up deciding not to install when production time came for the Camaro in 2009.

I don't know exactly when the performance division was disbanded, but the badges didn't go away until after the bankruptcy.

There were several running changes made throughout the 2010 model year, which was a long one. Production started early, in March 2009. There was the deletion of the ambient lighting connectors, the deletion of the "chicklets", the deletion of the "GM Performance Division" badge and the addition of the rear park assist sensors. But I don't think any two of these happened at the same time, but rather at different production points throughout the model year.

Yeah I noticed they were back on the 2012 ZL1s, 2013 SSs, and 2013 SS 1LEs that Chevy had at the 2012 Camaro Fest, so I assumed that they were back for all the 2013+ models, except V6s. I had my buddy with me who drives a 2012 SS. I teased him so much about it, that he went to the dealer when we got back, bought one, and stuck it on his 2012.

And I guess they've made another running change. The 2012 ZL1s and the early 2013 ZL1s and SSs have the same badge that the early 2010s had, but sometime during the 2013 model year they switched to a new badge which replaces the GM logo with a Chevy Bowtie and deletes the word "division".
