Thanks for that! I got those added to my cam parts list. I think GM performance or OE LS7 lifters. I can’t remember. Trunnions upgrade. Cam. And all gaskets/bolts parts. Etc.

Well guys. Little time has gone by. But I ordered a brand new fully forged ARP upgraded 1200hp rated short block through Thompson motor sports. I went LSA block. Diamond pistons. LSA crank. K1 forged rods. Upgraded oil pump w/ warranty. Dropped about 8k and still have about 4-6 more weeks of build time. I also ordered custom grind cam through GPI. And all new timing components. Will update once I go pickup engine and install back into car!

Thanks man!

Cam question for anyone who wants to help me decide.

I was pretty set on SS3 - GPI cam (230/251 - .646/.637 - 118 LSA / +6.5)

A friend of mine has a pretty rowdy CTS-V and he has a custom spec GPI cam just a little more aggressive than the SS3.
(234/256 - .646/.638 - 118 LSA / +8)

I have stock heads and blower. Full mod list in signature. FBO / E85 and now built motor.

Since you are deciding between the two, I can't color and stay within the lines I'll suggest something different

This is what I'd rather run,but If I'm not mistaken you are running competitively so max hp is more your goal than more torque. https://briantooleyracing.com/btr-ca...m32346176.html

Update for everyone! Built motor is done and picked up. 9k later.
Just ordered all new gaskets, pushrods, lifters, etc from GPI on Cyber Monday. Waiting for a few last things to come in. And putting it all back together and throwing engine back in!

Will post update pics / info when installed.

Well guys. Been a long time coming. But built short block and custom cam is installed. Car is tuned. Running great! Made an additional 84 whp with cam being the only real mod. As the built motor prob didn’t help make more power. But just handle the power better. Car now sits at 787 WHP / 719 TQ

It’s been a long year but my baby is back

It hurts it being out. I put a hole in a piston about a month back. My car is being built stronger now. Hopefully have it by end of this week or possibly next week. It sure hurts the wallet though.

Only chasing down 1 small issue. When I go WOT and do any types of pulls/hard accelerations I’m getting a “service power steering error” - we’re going to double check to make sure we didn’t pinch a wire when reinstalling engine. Check / clean plugs & connections going into power steering rack. Any other things we should look for?

It was about 11k total. 9k for engine and all components. And then I spent another 2k on misc items (cam, gaskets, BTR valve train components, new bolts, belts, fluids, etc) and no labor. Just good friend who accepts Taco Bell and my friendship as payment!

Must be nice to be down and back up within a couple months. I saved up the short block money in about 2-3 months. Then it was being built for about 5-6 months. Only took about 2 weeks to get everything in and then reinstall only took a weekend. We took our time.

Does anyone know where the power steering or harness for rack grounds to? We’ve cleaned connectors. Double checked for exposed wires and pinched wires. Nothing so far we can find. Still getting service power steering on hard acceleration
