Well, I'm gonna have to wait, I'm missing the early 5th gen adapters so I can't install the wing on my trunk yet.
That was the hold up on shipping and I just double checked -- was not in the box. Contacted C7 so hopefully, I'll get it before next weekend... -Don

ZL1 1LE Wing from C7 Carbon Installed (cont.)!
So, the adapter for the early 5th gen came in and boy, its beautiful!
Here are the 6.25" tall uprights: And the adapter: What I really like about the adapter is its already a template for drilling the holes AND it has the support for downforce! This is gonna be one beautiful and functional setup! I did hook up with Brandon (Chevy2tehBone) and reviewed his setup. This is going to be easier since I have the template for mounting... Very excited! -Don

Prep work today! Got the bridge setup and holes drilled. First, installed the weather stripping (did not come with the kit - 1" wide, 1/8" thick):
Polished up and sealed the painted trunk lid before setup: Prep: Holes setup and drilled: The adapter looks awesome... -Don

ZL1 1LE Wing from C7 Carbon Installed (cont.)!
Wing is on! I got her done finally. A couple of things to note:
1) The holes in the wing are NOT cleaned out. I had to use a drill to remove some of the cake and then 1/4 x 20 tap to clean it out and make sure the bolts go deep enough 2) The uprights are not a 'perfect' alignment when you put them on the wing then, try to line up to the base. I'd cover the base with tape GOOD, then drill out the holes in the adapter until the bolts go in easy enough. 3) The middle bolt hole I would NOT drill in the trunk. As it turns out, its not really needed. 4) Pre-fit the wing to the adapter, get everything lined up, THEN drill the holes in the trunk. I was lucky everything fitted on my first try ;o) 5) Protect ALL areas -- it will get scratched if you don't (trunk quarter panels, window, trunk lid, adapter) 6). Loctite everything— once you bolt the uprights, you’re not taking it off. Make sure the uprights are tight and not moving. 7) Use vacuum plugs on the studs to prevent scratches. For C7, love the piece! I would recommend: 1) Pre-fitting the wing to the base. I had to really change the hole size so it would fit. 2) Make sure the holes are cleaned and tapped. 3) SS hardware -- Just gotta say it makes a difference ;o) The screws you sent were but the uprights, I'd rather have it there too. 4) Flange nuts -- get ride of the washer, lock-ring, nut. 5) Rear stud on the outer uprights -- need to be @ lease 1/4" longer 6) Polish the uprights like you do the wing — I don’t mind doing that but, it sure would help those who don’t. 7) 10MM bolts/studs nuts would be nice — could use factory flange nuts like the factory spoilers do ;o) I'd really like to have better hardware in the uprights but, I got stainless bolts and screws with the kit (the uprights were not SS). Also, you CAN'T use 1/8" weather stripping. If you put it on, the bolt in the upright are TOO SHORT (I'd like to see at least a 1/4" longer bolt in the 'rear' of the upright). I'd use 1/32" weather stripping at the most and then use water cleanup silicone for the rest of the areas (you want some buffer or you'll scratch the paint underneath). Outside of that, take your time, measure and prefit things. Here you go: I did 3/4" holes, I think you'd be better off with 1": Before the goodies (newly painted trunk lid): Swaps are a cinch. The frames have bolts that 'auto align' so I didn't need to do ANY adjustments: Test trunk and alignment: Re-assemble the guts: Prefit Wing and bolt holes: Wing on the trunk!: Badges back on: Looks great and SOLID, no buckling at all. The adapter gives a lot more support for sure. What I have left is to get some 'water cleanup' silicone and fill in gaps so no water will flow under the adapter. Over all, not bad (not perfect though). It takes a LONG Phillips Screw driver to attach the upright screws to the wing -- Its a PAIN for sure but stick at it. I'd recommend a magnetic Phillips head -- strong one. Now, to enjoy the wing! -Don

ZL1 1LE Wing from C7 Carbon Installed (cont.)!
So, picked up some water cleanup 'Dap' clear acrylic/silicone to finish up the gaps (goes on white, gets clear in 7 to 14 days).
I like this as I can clean the excess with water/soap and it does a great job (used this on my Hex Vents). Here it is: Taped up: After applied and cleanup: Now to let it cure and take it for a spin later... Whew! -Don

Like the curvy lines on it! Be interesting to see how you think it performs on the course for you. It might look slightly better on a black car though, perhaps you should send it to me and we can see Lol. Nice job sir it really looks god on your car!
