One of the best comments I've read on this forum in a long time.

I found the same part number 580-388 on Amazon as some of you others, but with "Image not Available" on Amazon as well as many other sites that I searched on, i was reluctant to purchase and if it wasn't the correct part.

what I love about amazon is there fast shipping and there easy return policy. I usually opt for 1 day shipping and then if it were wrong return it. with those links the 1-2 months shipping it might have ran me off too for something I could have got faster.

I agree with the OP.....44K is way too soon for that part to be wearing out.
By they way. My very first car was a 1960 Mercury Comet. I was 14 years old and paid $100 dollars for it. Had a farm equipment license back then. All the rest of my cars and trucks since have been GM. Oh wait, I owned a 1937 International Truck also. Never once had any real maintenance problems out of any of my GM cars and trucks. I would never buy a foreign manufactured car. Even if it is built in the US. It is still a foreign company that benefits from the sale. Support US products or some day you may not have any. Just say'en.

But, you can not reasonably expect to take a car like this, with this level of performance (supercar range) and drive it daily, putting above average daily driver miles on it, and not expect to have "some" repairs. That is the nature of the beast... 44K miles is coming up on driving around the entire earth twice! A roughly 1,000$ repair bill is not so bad all things considered. IMO And the people comparing the reliability of a ZL1 to Toyota and Honda are just being silly. I would like to see any Toyota or Honda do what the ZL1 can and see how long it lasts doing so. (FYI, I love my Toyota FJ) If Honda is so amazing and reliable, how come my 2013 CRV ate a motor at 18,000 miles? I can assure you it did nothing but daily drive to and from work for the best MPG and the oil was changed every 3K with Full Synthetic at the dealer. That car was babied (and parked in a heated garage) and purchased to "last" and now I am looking to get rid of it because I don't trust it and it rides like a roller skate with no balls. So much for the famed Honda 4cyl reliability??? Never had that happen on any GM (over 12 so far and one saved my life)... Vehicles are designed, built, priced and sold for a purpose. Yes they can do "other things" but that may have trade-offs and one of which may be reliability in the long run. I bought my ZL1 for one reason only. To enjoy it and race it all the time! However, It is not going to be daily driven because that doesn't make any sense to me. Why use up such an amazing car for something so mundane? Tools have a purpose and they last the longest when being used for the purpose. |

I personally don't daily a car like this do to the resale hit. If someting new comes out I like better I might want to flip it.
then agian I have a long commute and 40mpg>19mpg even if you don't factor in the massive resale hit just does not makes sence in my case. then again I am poor. if I was not poor I would daily this and have a new C7 Z06 on order.

I did see a 2SS with temp tags (2014) this summer at the top of a 2 mile 4x4 trail... I was pissed. I would have given the guy a ride in my FJ to not have to see that BS. It was ruined...

When PFADT was around, they were testing some ZL1 coilovers that retained the electronics.
