Eagle F1's

Just a quick heads up. The Eagle F1's are a cool tire, however, they are NOT joking when they say summer only. I took my car out the other day at about 40 degrees and the tires felt like they were made out of stone.

And the ones on the ZL1 wear a slightly different tread pattern...they *might* be worse. ZL1 owners in the northern states (me :() will need to be VERY careful with it when driving in the cold....a better idea would be to not go out in the cold at all, if possible...(or change tires)

On early morning when the roads are cold (even dry) that car will slide (under power), as if you were skating on ice...

In what manner, and are you talking about G:1 or G:2s? Because they're substantially different....

I have heard pretty good things about the Nitto Invo's, but have no experience with them. And the Eagle F1's on my GT500 are labeled as G2, though I have no idea what is/will be different on the F1's the ZL1 will ship with.

Right now choices are Nitto 555R's for the rear Nitto 555's for the fronts OR TOYO 888's all the way around.

They were designed specifically for the ZL1. Complete with sidewall inserts, alterations to tread, different rubber compounds, differing sidewall stiffnesses...all to make each tire corner-specific.

The fronts are optimized for steering response and handling, while the rears were designed with tread-wear, traction, and handling in mind.

From what we know so far....the car seems to do pretty darn well with them.

And for that matter, so does the Z06 which wears F1 Runflats...

Are there better tires? Probably...but we'll have to wait to see when the car is out if there are any inherent problems with the Eagle F1 Supercars, because they are significantly different than what the GT500 SVT uses.

Not looking to stir anything up here, but I know for a fact that the Zo6 "performance" crowd are not very strong advocates of the stock tires.
