do we still not have directions to give to the Dealership service department on where to find all the updates?

The last dealership (service tech) I talked to said that GM would not pay them for all the updates if they were to hook up the car for a day or 2 (depending on the amount of updates) when there are no problems. he told me to come back if I have any problems and he'd gladly fix them for me... I just want an up to date car...

Just tell him your iPod keeps disconnecting randomly.

I used search by artist and chose tool. I then played 3 songs off one album. After the third song it repeated the album but the display was showing some other random song. I clicked next on the wheel and it did properly forward to the next song in the album and the display corrected itself.

Theres no way in hell I am going back to the dealer every time they update this thing.

Earlier in this thread codeman mentions that while the system allows updates via the USB port but they currently have no mechanism for distributing the updates. Also, there is concern that people would become impatient during the process and brick their system.

I would also like to have the option to do the update myself instead of trying to explain to the dealer what needs to be done, the setup and appointment, etc...

Hey Codeman,

I finally got the CD update and it now doesnt flip to the damn ipod everytime I start it up! Thanks! But now I have another question. The wife and I both have iphones. I've sync'ed both to the bluetooth system in the car and both phones work through it, but sometimes we have to manually select the phone or we end up calling with onstar.

Example:

I drove the car yesterday, while she was at work. The car picks up my phone and will dial without using the onstar # just fine. Today, she takes the car while I'm at work. But when she calls me, it uses onstar instead of her phone.

She can go manually select the device, but shouldn't it automatically pick up her phone like it does mine? I can see having to select which device when both are in the car, but not this...

Thanks!

Have you connected it up to iTunes recently and made sure it has the latest software version? Also, do you know anyone else who has an iPod you might be able to try? That would also help find out if it's something wrong with your PDIM or possibly your iPod.

I'm sorry I don't have much more help, it's just an issue I haven't heard of before and doesn't seem like it's on the vehicle's side, but I could always be wrong!
Yes it has the newest updates from iTunes, I will try to use my sons iPod to see if it does the same thing. I will post again later after I try this out.

Thanks Codeman.

Is it only after you've switched between phones?

Well see we switch off who's driving the car. If I drive it for a couple days, it seems to keep my bluetooth connection. If I drive it for a couple days, then she takes it to work one day, it doesnt switch to her device. It ends up using the onstar phone to dial folks instead of syncing up with hers. She can manually select her phone in the device listing and it will work, but it doesnt automatically connect. Just kinda weird.

Cool iPOD / USB fixed!

Just got it back from dealer today and I believe they fixed it! A software update.

Can you put your radio on the USB input and then hold down the Menu button until it shows the hardware and software versions? I'm assuming they updated yours to the "CD" software version.

I had mine updated about a month ago. I held down the menu button and it showed the following:

HW ID CC
SW ID CD

Is that the latest?
