exhaust scrapping

I just bought a 2014 1LE and it has kooks long tubes and a full 3 inch kooks cat back system on it.

It seems so scrap alot more than what i feel it should. i see alot of companies like corsa, and borla saying that the 1le has the fitment of the zl1.

I guess my question is, is there a way to get away from the scrapping sound whenever i hit those long swooping bumps on the highway? the Kooks system drones so damn bad i am going to remove it and was thinking about going with a corsa sport 2.5 inch cat back. hoping that will get ride of the drone and reduce the scrapping on the ground.

First step is to figure out what part is scraping. It's likely the long tubes prior to the cat so a cat back system won't help.

My guess would be the collector clamps are hitting. Definitely get it on a hoist and take a look to make sure. As far as an exhaust with no drone, I highly recommend Solo Performance and their Mach X catback.

Just get the Corsa. That will solve all your problems plus your getting the best exhaust you can by for the 5th gen imo.

Yep, the j-pipes seem to make all the difference. Been through several engine mods and still no drone at all.

Lowering it didn't help , as said get it up on a lift and see where it is hitting/scraping .My guess is you can adjust it so it doesn't . I have Stainless Power 1 7/8 long tubes and an MBRP 3 inch system , and it doesn't scrape anywhere .Kooks is a top shelf company and one of the best 5th gen Header manufacturers in the biz. They should fit perfectly .

I have the Stainless Power 1 7/8 LT's and a Flowmaster ZL1 Outlaw 3 inch catback on there and am lowered 1.5 and doesn't scrape anywhere, even speed bumps. My guess is that a clamp or something is dragging to cause this. Those headers also are the top notch units used by a lot of folks and should be tucked up nice and tight, mine are. Good luck.

Hope hard are you hitting bumps on the highway?! Even with a 3" exhaust and lowered you shouldn't be scraping. Perhaps if the tunnel brace is still there you're bumping it with the exhaust on big bumps. Stainless Works includes spaces for the brace in their kits.

If you like the sound of your exhaust, but hate the drone give Solo a shout and get some J pipes welded in. If you're dead set on changing your exhaust I am a fan of Solo's Mach XL catback. Corsa is great too for a no drone system as well, but it always sounded a little exotic for me where Solo was more classic muscle car, IMO.

My 1 7/8 ARH LTH run extremely low... its not hitting the ground but I have issues with my middle brace no longer fitting (the verts have a middle brace). Seems that I'm sorta screwed with brace until I can find a guy that could build something to replace it.

I never started scraping until I lowered mine, but I lowered it a lot. Now I only scrape on the highway when doing over 75, exactly like you mentioned - those long swooping dips. I must have hit it hard or maybe hit something else, because my passenger side cat delete/Off-Road pipe is partially caved in. It looks kinda like it was flattened, but it is still sealed, so I haven't swapped it out yet.

I am just lucky that there is some 'give' in the exhaust, or I would be very worried about it snapping bolts at the head and causing bigtime issues.

So now on that stretch of highway I keep it under 75mph.
