Camaro Supercharger advice?
Hello everyone, I am a new owner of a 2011 2SS. I'm new to the 5th gens but not the car scene. I was wondering what some of you thought about superchargers that are offered for this car. Which ones are alot of people using and seeing good reliable results?? This car will be used a lot and its not going to be just sitting around. Any help would be great, thank you.

I just installed the Maggie TVS-2300 and am happy with it so far. I take my car in on Tuesday for a dynotune. The whipple is the biggest of the top mounts producing some big numbers. The front mounts are louder and produce more power at different ranges.

Don't let the majority sway your research.
This forum has a strong leaning toward the Magnuson roots type blower. There ARE other types and brands. Look through all the available information before making a decision. I, myself, nearly bought a roots type. At the end of my researching, I realized that the twin screw type, made by Kenne Bell, was much more to my liking. You'll find that there is also the centrifugal type. And the turbocharger which operates on a different principal, as you shall learn.
Have fun checking it all out. You'll loove the results!!! Last edited by Ivas; 01-09-2011 at 07:15 PM. |

Thank you for all the input! I come from the WRX world and had a built engine that i did myself and had a GT35R Turbo and pushing 450whp with it and it was my daily driver haha, I have always liked screw type blowers for their power!! Im wanting to stay away from centrifugal chargers with this car just cause i like the positive displacement of a roots and screw type blowers. Plus you dont have to worry about running oil lines like you do with a centrifugal unless you get a procharger. I will look around and keep looking to see what i like!!

I am also checking out superchargers but probably won't have one put on until my warranty expires. Those of you that have them, is there any kind of gage in the car that shows the boost pressure? What does the super charger sound like? Do you get that jet whine kind of sound? Is there any delay when you hit the gas until the super charger kicks in?

Roots and Screw type will not have a lag like a Centrifugal and Turbo do. The sound you are talking about is the air being compressed by the rotors and a Screw type supercharger has a louder whine than a roots do. Depends all on the degree of the rotors and speed of the supercharger.

vd5505, Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's and wive's here don't care....and take it easy.
oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!!

Was leaning towards roots type, and now seriously considering centrifugal for some very obvious reasons. Air-to-air intercooling, no meth. required, easier on the engine (no knocking), easier to install, 3yr. $49. warranty, et al. But, hey that's just me. And consistent high TQ and HP #'s, which are very impressive.

There are pro's and cons to a power adder on a stock engine. Make sure you look at all aspects of what your getting into. I've posted enough info about it so I wont dwell on the negative side but there is as much bad as there is good and it should be considered in order to make an educated decision
I offer the E-Force as well as will be offering the Magnuson but I would not drop one on a stock engine. Thats me. I'm a bit more conservative when it comes to the engine. We offer one of the finest precision engines built so I see things a little differently. |

I dropped a Maggie on my stock LS3, got 490tq and 513hp at the back wheels. I sure hope I'm one of the lucky ones and gets some milage out of my engine, CC scares me above. I got a modest tune and am sticking with the stock pulley. It's hard not to beat on it right now.
