Thought I blew it...but didn't

I was taking my Mustang-driving brother-in-law for a ride in my SC'd Camaro. At the top of 2nd gear it just died...I thought..#%@* I blew it up!! I shifted into 3rd and let out the clutch and it was fine. As it turns out I think I just hit the rev limiter. I went up to the next exit turned around and gave it another go and it accelerated up to 130 mph before I let off in 5th gear...which is the fastest I've ever had it (I wasn't watching the speedo and didn't feel nearly that fast when I looked down to see the speed).

Anyone else ever have this momentary scare of thinking you blew it up?

You missed the point. He was saying it didn't feel like they were going that fast... The car is just so smooth, nothing to do with the weight!

Hey!! Easy with that 4500lbs estimate! That would put the passengers at almost 300lbs each!

Yeah, I really hate the rev limiter, specially in first, if it actually grabs and goes, you can bang off it real quick before you even realize it...

If you weighed the Camaro SS with a maggie and a full tank of fuel, it's 4100+ Lbs...

2 people in it and the weight will hit 4500 pretty easily.

If you are referring to making an impression on the Mustang driver..I'm not sure. He was pretty impressed on the second go at it....but yeah...I felt pretty stupid, like I didn't know how to drive my own car!

lol Yeh I hate when the car hits the rev limiter or if stabilatrac is on it also cuts power. It feels like you floored it and it literally ran out of fuel at the top of the shift. Its enough to make your head go off the head rest toward the steering wheel lol

Had mine out today for the first time since Nov 1st. Started off easy planning to go around the block but an hour and about 50 miles later I decided to redline it through the gears....missed the damn 2-3 shift again!!! Need more practice with the stock shifter!
