GTO dimensions

65
L 206.1
W 73.4

66
L 206.4
W 74.4
No idea on the weights, but they were surprisingly light for their size. Not as much safety crap as the 70's cars. Mid 60's GTO's were definitely larger dimension wise. (73 may have been close in size but not in performance)

Mercury Marauder is the winner so far based on size and weight, power, not so much. Was probably a pig with 385hp and 4300# ---
Length 219.1 in
Width 79.6 in
Height 53.5 in
Curb weight 4,328 lb

66 Impala
L 213.2 in
W 79.6 in

I don't think it would be fair to put 4dr cars in the mix, including the Coronets. Also, the heaviest car will probably not be the largest car dimensionally.

I submit to you the 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst @ 224.7 inches long.

http://oldcarmemories.com/1970-chrys...2-tons-of-fun/

"Only two full-size muscle cars exceeded this length. One was the 1969-1970 Mercury Marauder which had a length of 221 inches. The other was the 1970 Chrysler 300 Hurst (sometimes referred to as the 300H) which by far was the biggest muscle car ever produced – it had a length of 224.7 inches, width of 79.1 inches, and a wheelbase of 124 inches. This car was so big that even in the era of large American cars it was a behemoth."

I like that one.

Big Chrysler’s had presence for sure in the late 60’s-early 70’s.

There was a car rag several years ago that had a factory built 4 door caprice with the big 427 and a 4 speed. The guy ordered it that way for towing, etc.

I think the 1967 Delta 88 rocket 425 is worthy of consideration

Not a muscle car, but a clear example of how big cars used to be. A friend / co-worker had been assigned a Suburban as a company vehicle. He also had just picked up a ‘73 Eldorado Convertible. That’s a 2-door convertible, folks. It was longer than the Suburban. In order to close his garage door, he had to back the Eldorado up to kiss the back wall. Didn’t have to do that with the Suburban.
