Mid-Ohio Driving Course __ Track time

OK, I said I would post information once I had more.

I need a couple things from you guys though.

I need to know first off, how is serious about want to do a track day at Mid-Ohio Sports Car course in Lexington, Ohio.

The cost is going to be $300

The way he said it normally is ran is a "Lead, follow, pass". It is fun this way. Each person in the group (5 to 6) gets a chance to follow directly behind the instructor through the course. Passing occurs in the straights only (usually). The instructor only goes as fast as slow as the group dictates. if we are all on top of the instructor, he speeds up a little each time until separation starts.

Also, he wanted me to make sure your insurance will cover this in case something bad happens to your vehicle while on the track. Even though this is an instructional course, he has seen some insurance companies not covering this. So please check with your individual insurance companies FIRST!

Here are some videos of a lap around the track at mid-Ohio http://www.midohio.com/About-Us/A-La...k?flvpath=1078

***REGISTRATION ADDED************

We have the date set for September 13th and registration is available online. Please forward this onto your group for enrollment. I have the link listed below:

I should be getting more information from the instructor next week.

He is working out the details on how best to cater to us (camaro).

Hey Matt, let me know if you'd like to open to GTO / G8s. I'm sure some guys would be interested. I'd be interested maybe next year. Calendar is full this year so far.

I am 20/80 at this time until we get more details and specific date. Skip pad, hmmm I should be researching tire prices. I never do burnouts yet my rear tires are already half the tread depth than the fronts are.

I'm still interested, what time of year are you looking at?
Can you get something official looking (web page, pdf, etc) from them so I have something to explain better to my insurance agent. Is this class listed on their web page?

a link on here is fine

I e-mailed the instructor to ask if the GTO & G8 guys could join. He said no way! ...Just Kidding... Come one come all.....

Tell the GTO & G8 guys to come over here so I can get an accurate count on vehicles.

Update

I just received this update. I think this is good news.

Let me know your thoughts & interests please.

Hello Matt,

I wanted to get back with you regarding a custom program.

Our custom program would look like this:

The program would begin with registration between 8:00am and 8:30am. Afterwards, we would have introductions with some classroom time. The classroom time is spent going over the physics and dynamics of high performance driving. At approximately 9:45am, we will head to your cars and practice maneuvers. We will divide the group by three and have three separate rotations. The rotations would include the use of our skid car, line drill/brake and turn, and cornering exercises. At about noon, we would have a track briefing and then conclude the program with lead/follow lapping until 1:15pm.

I have the following dates available in September:

Thursday, September 9th

Monday, September 13th

Tuesday, September 14th

Monday, September 20th

The cost of the program is $395 per person. We would need a minimum of 20 participants. It does not need to be a Camaro exclusive event. Cars need to be street legal and convertibles require a roll bar that extends above the height of the helmet. For an additional charge (approximately $15/person), I can arrange lunch in the Goodyear Tower Suites that overlook the track afterwards.

I will follow up with you next week.

Thanks,

Chris Binkley

It is not clear to me how much of this would be using Mid-Ohio's cars vs. using our own Camaros. Could anyone clear this up for me?

I'm 50/50 on this.
