Flex fuel sensor ID choking feed?

I've been struggling to get a good reading from my flex fuel sensor. I had it plumbed into the return under the car, no good. It only sees fuel when the return is full of fuel. Which is not all the time. If it reads 0% the ECM thinks im on 93 and changes my AFR and timing. Once the return line gets fuel in it, it reads %77 again and timing comes back.

So I moved it to directly under the regulator, thinking it would see at least a small amount of fuel, but no. Not all the time. Same problem.

DSX says it MUST be plumbed into the feed line, but the ID of the sensor is so damn small. Placing it in my -10 feed kinda defeats the purpose.

How can I run the FF sensor in the feed and not restrict flow?

Since I literally never run anything but Ethanol, can't I just ditch Flex fuel all together and run a strictly Ethanol based tune?

Can't I still use the FF sensor to verify E content (manually with laptop) when I fuel up, but not change the tune based off that content?

This is just my racecar/toy/weekend beater. I've put 3k miles on this car since 2015.

You could always Y the sensor into the feed side.

In situations like this we either make the sensor a dead end on the feed...So Y it off like jasycz28 mentioned. You can convert to a ethanol only tune but if you're doing that you're going to want to barrel feed it. There is a significant variance between E85 pumps some times, especially with winter blends. If you can't barrel feed it you'll need to monitor it closely

Thanks Brian. This will work.

The dead end Y could work too, but might not get fresh fuel samples all the time.

Dang works just fine on my return but I put it at the bottom of a loop tends to always be fuel present.

I rewired my relays triggers so that 2 pumps run full time. The 3rd is boost triggered. Return stays full and FF sensor is happy.
