So today my car started talking to me...
Anyone else had this happen?
I was sitting at a stop sign, with the radio turned down talking to my passenger about directions. I asked if I should turn left or right, and we talking about what street to take to the restaurant. We were stopped at the stop sign for a while because we were crossing 4 lanes of traffic. In the middle of the conversation the radio lights up and says incoming message from OnStar. A voice came over the speaker and said something along the lines of: Quote:
Needless to say, it was creepy... |

I've been hearing of this type of thing more and more. It's making me think twice about using Chevys for work vehicles.
Edit: If this ever does happen to me, I will be rid of all my chevys. |

It could just be a coincidence. I noticed you haven't posted much, is your car a couple days old or older? Sometimes onstar will come on and tell you stuff within the first few days of activating it.

They'll come on every few days and tell you about the feature until you do use it at least once. And no, Onstar does not have the capability to turn on your microphone without you knowing. |

Please. This is a coincidence. GM is not listening to your conversations in your car. They have bigger things to worry about than your eating habits.

My mother works at Convergys which handles On-star calls and believe me, that was one of the first questions I asked. It is not possible. It will always ring twice if On-star ever tries to contact you.

Don't ever doubt what is possible or not! I do doubt they are, today, but my company first developed OnStar when it was only for Cadillacs. We DID have a way to call the phone, silently...Your car also can be called for diagnostics and other stuff, but today, it's all provided by a different company. In fact, I was the first to integrate the voice recognition interface into the mobile phones - We called her Veronica
but again, they don't call to listen in
