Anyone Run A 2012 Shelby Yet?
This is shocking. After years of hearing how this car was designed to beat a 2012 Shelby, NOBODY has even lined the two up. Does anyone here have a friend who has one? No need to even **** with the clutch. Just take them on the highway, go 30, honk the horn three times and see how they pull side-by-side.
I'm really disappointed the Automotive press didn't do this, once. I want to see how well Chevy delivered on its promise. The 2013 Shelby is a forgone conclusion, but right now, someone call up their Ford buddy and do this! |

Pretty sure it's safe to say that the ZL1 wins vs a 2012 GT500 since a 2011 SS with CAI, Headers, Exhaust, and tune can beat a 2012 GT500 in a quarter mile. A 2011 Camaro with the above mods can run a sub 12 quarter while a GT500 is around 12.3 quarter mile. Bring in the ZL1 and it's goodnight for the GT500.

What do you mean by "the 2013 Shelby is a forgone conclusion?"
Do you mean the that 2013 GT500 will beat the ZL1 in the quarter mile, or that the ZL1 will beat the 2013 GT500 on most tracks? The 2013 GT500 may well beat a stock ZL1 in the quarter mile, but so what? Remember that it's not the 1960's anymore and today's high performance vehicles are judged by much more than simply straight line performance. If quarter mile drag racing is really one's thing, one can build a vehicle that will out perform the 2013 GT500 in the quarter mile for much less that than the cost of a 2013 GT500, but it will be difficult to build a vehicle that has the overall performance and everyday drivability and warranty that the ZL1 has for considerably less than the cost of the ZL1.

At the drag strips I know a SS can take a GT500 with minimal mods so keep thinking a GT500 can hang with a ZL1, you will be disappointed. Straight line, road course, etc. the ZL1 would take a 2011-2012 GT500.

On stock rubber they are both 12:20-12:40 second cars average. Drivers race.

I highly doubt a SS with the mods listed will run sub 12 times. Hero run on list with mods is 12.24 |

From a dead start advantage ZL1. From a roll GT500 will show you the ass end!

Have you seen these run in Huntsville? I haven't been on the drag strip yet with this one but plan on going a few times this year. Do you run at Huntsville?

Please explain how asking if one is implying that the ZL1 will beat the GT500 on most tracks is equivalent to stating that 2013 GT500 is "gonna handle like crap."
Did anyone on this thread claim that Ford doesn't know how to build muscle cars?
