My car is a 2011 with 30k miles, how long do I have warranty? Is it already out? Should I try to have the dealer do it, or the hassle too big. So I should just do it my self?

Do we have a tutorial that shows the steps in exchanging the PDIM?

3yr, 36,000mi.

Try your dealer first. Some dealers get it right without a hassle - others don't

cabbe, your car is still under warranty, and somewhere in the DIY section there is a How-To there on how to do the work yourself. I've seen it, and whats intailed is taking the console out, disconnect the old PDIM, removing it, and insert the new one and connect it up. its a P-N-P operation. then reinstall your console.

I found the DIY.... its an install where someone installed the PDIM and USB in their 1SS, but it shows you how to get at it, then all ya do is unplug and remove the old one and reinstall the new one, plug it in, pit it back together and you are ready to go

Update!

Ok, so far so good.

My brother took the car to GM in Torrance. They had a look at the car and they are ordering the PDIM that was in the bulletin.

I'm taking the car back there on thursday and then I can wait while they install it for me.

I'll have an update on thursday on how it went!

Ok, just got the car back from the dealer.

The car now says DB/DB.

So I'm think that I have gotten the latest hardware but not the latest software.

Am I right? Should I just be able to take the car in and have them download the latest software?

By the way, this is at the Culver city dealer, not the Torrance dealer.

nope opposite, you have the best software for the PDIM you have, the only way to get the DB/DD is to replace the PDIM with the latest part number.

So does that mean that they only updated my software and didn't put in the new PDIM?
