About once each year local dealership will have a discount on "complete brake fluid flush", this does include the ABS system. I have had the fluid flushed completely twice, car is nearing 4 yeas old and has just under 15K on the clock.

Use teflon on the bleeder threads to prevent sucking in air if you have issues with that. It helped me when bleeding brakes at work years ago... Otherwise the unit will suck air from the threads, showing bubbles in the line, making it difficult to determine when to stop.

I generally flush mine within a few months after buying a vehicle, (9500 miles and four months later I haven't gotten to it.) Then I do the master cylinder turkey baster fluid exchange randomly between flushes to keep the fluid relatively dry and happy. Doing this when changing the oil is fairly easy. Debris is not my main concern, I never let my fluid change color or go dark with pollution. Boiling brake fluid is terrifying and I never wish to have that happen again. I boiled most name brand (non race) DOT 4 fluids in my daily drivers before finding something that worked for me. I now use ATE super blue (or their current non blue version) because it has an extremely high WET boiling point and a great dry boiling point. Dry boiling point is meaningless on a frequently driven street car with infrequent fluid changes, which is why I use ATE. Safety first.

FYI, I use the Motive kit to bleed the calipers -- not the one man bleeder.
Pulling fluid out of the master cylinder using the one man bleeder is easier than the turkey baster ;o) -Don
