Theyre not symbols they are characters, same as English "letters".

Arabic text (whether its Pashtun/Farsi/Arabic/etc) is all written fluidly sort of like cursive.

Also MG if you think the comments in this thread are bad you'd hate being around my shop (my employees are all Wounded Warriors).

the computer most likely has some sort of array of languages stored in the memory, and the pointer to said language got corrupted and pointed to the wrong data in the array. Blame bad programming, not Bin Laden.

Camaro Owners:

You're not the only ones getting your vehicle and trip info in Arabic! A couple of days ago my young grandson was pretending to drive our 2011 Equinox in the driveway. As I moved him from the passenger seat to my lap, his feet hit some of the instrument panel buttons. Suddenly my read-outs were in Arabic! I'm not sure whether he hit a combination of buttons or it was a coincidence.

Before I got a chance to check the Owner's Manual, my wife took the car out and when it came back, everything was in English again. When I checked the manual, I found I had language options, but only English, Spanish and French!

My suspicion is that the computer chip allows readouts in more languages than the three choices I have, but I'm concerned that these languages can accidentally pop up.

Can the GM person who monitors these posts assure us that this won't be a problem in the future - a problem that won't automatically reset or allow the driver to manually reset to English? Or does GM have a "fix" for this potential problem? Or am I on my own and need to learn elementary Arabic?

We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the vehicle in another language. I would suggest going to the dealership for assurance on this issue.
