Hurst Shifter From GM Parts Department
I am trying to keep my 2010 Camaro all GM for several reasons including warranty. On numerous occasions I have tried to order the short throw shifter from my Chevrolet dealer, but to date they have not been able to do it. I would really appricate answers to the following questions:
When can I order the shifter from GM? Is the part number going to be 92214388? Estimated cost? Thanks very much! Jim Marsh |

IMO the after market Hurst will be more worth for your money.
the Factory Hurst is 20 - 25% shorter than stock, I bet you can even hardly tell you have a short throw shifter on. I've seen the aftermarket Hurts in person. and you can really tell the difference and feel that its really shorter. I would say the aftermarket Hurst is 35 - 40% shorter than stock. Justt sayin |

44% for the aftermarket and 22% for the OEM.

But the KAE shifter is a complete replacement where as after market hurst is just the rod.

It's funny how people get hung-up on replacing the whole shifter as opposed to the main functioning parts (bearing, lever, bushings, etc.). What are the benefits of replacing the whole shifter, as opposed to just the moving parts? All I see are dis-advantages: heavier & harder to install... it just doesn't make sense.

The GM engineers must of had a reason for not adding these springs to the V8 Camaros. |

Probably the same reason a forty thousand SS Camaro doesn't have foot well lighting or an up or down powered right front bucket seat. And paint that all you have to do is practically look at it and it chips. Not bashing here. Love the new Camaro but geesh! couldn't they have listened to people with 2010's and made improvements more than just the heads up display? And what about that messed up clutch?

Last word I had was about a week ago that the accessory hurst shifter should be available in Jan. That's the 3rd, 4th or 5th revision to their time table. I've lost track. But, it's what I want for my car, so I'm watching and asking periodically. I'll post an update if I see or hear of one.
