But here is what I figured out with my car. I rarely use the AC so my coolant gets up to about 105C or 221F then the car cools down to around 95C once the thermostat opens. And then back up it goes cycling in temperature. So the trans cooler in the radiator is being heated by the coolant....

If I run the AC my car never goes over 93C or about 200F and my trans stays at about 180 pegged. Now it could be the fans blowing over my trans cooler but I doubt its that. So maybe try what I'm saying to see if yours behaves similar. I think the cooling system is set up to run better with the AC on overall.
my trans only stopped running over 180 when I put a 160 Tstat in it. and that's because the water temp dropped by 20 degrees.

Exactly! That was my point its the water temp doing it not so much the trans. thx for chiming in with how a thermostat change affects it.

Well doesn’t our fans come on when we turn on the AC?

all that damn radiator does is warm the damn transmission up and keep it and engine temp.

Low speed comes on once the AC is turned on.

Yes they do and my point was if people are saying what their trans temps are they should say AC on or AC off when noting the temperature because they can differ quite alot just between AC or no AC

You're modified though right? Like a stall and bigass cooler? Never goes above 180 even in stop and go? Traffic too?

My pic was AC off. I did a trans service dropped the pan and changed filter also added JRE dipstick. It seemed to run a tad cooler today. I will get to drive it farther Friday and maybe install my cooler this weekend.

Try driving it around in traffic with the AC on as is and see what you get. I'll bet it stays closer to 180.... I'm not saying you shouldn't go with a cooler but I know it didn't change much on my car although it was a modest sized cooler they added too. With the cooler my coolant still runs the same temp as before but the trans does cool faster once the car gets moving.

The trans runs hotter than we all liked to see back in the old days but the trans fluid is so much better now so it really isn't an issue at all.

Ill try it and see how the AC effects it. Is your trans tuned?

Yes I am tuned but it was the same way stock so the tuning didn't affect it. I'm curious if you find it similar to mine.
