I forgot to include what my boss said about the Camaro.
His words: "It looked pissed. Kind of like it was saying 'touch me and I'll kick your a$$, I dare you.' It just looked mad." He seemed pretty sincere about it too.

What most people don't understand is that they were built for two different purposes. The SS is a straight line car and the Z28 was built for the Trans Am racing series. While yes the 396 SS will be faster in the 1/4 mile, the Z28 would kill the SS on the race track.

How about this?
As much as I would like a the z/28 to be top dawg... I think having the best of both worlds would be awesome.
Give us the V6 ~ 280 HP - for those who just want the looks. Give us the Base V8 ~ 400 HP - for those who want the looks and some power. GT and R/T Killer Give us the SS V8 ~ 500+ HP - for those who want to burn the tires off without going anywhere. GT500 and SRT8 Killer and then Give us the z/28 Performance & Handling Package that will allow everyone to go rip up the twisties with bigger brakes, better suspension, better tuned exhaust, and a better intake for example. That way all models can be a z/28 if they so choose. That said give me - 2010 Convertible SS z/28 with Hugger Orange and Black Stripes -

I think he might have been talking about Camaros only when he said that, but yeah, I've got a '02 Monte SS. The diff. between it and a LS engine wise is that the LS has a 3.4 liter V-6, and the SS has a 3.8 Liter V-6. Starting in 2004 the SS had a supercharger slapped on it for an extra 60hp, but was still a 3.8 V-6.

Here's my idea, based on the concept of a V6 model, a base V8, and the SS:
What about a pony car spec racing series? You know, really tight regulations, mostly showroom stock stuff. Ford has this for the Mustang: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...hotopanel..1.* Basically a turnkey race car package with a base GT engine with a few minor mods, plus some suspension, brake, and tranny/rearend mods. Now imagine something a little less race exclusive (such as a full set of seats, pretty much street legal) but basically a package called Z28 that you can add on to the base V8. You might get a few engine mods cranking out a touch higher hp number, but the real good stuff is some hardcore suspension, brake, and transmission upgrades, stuff that is almost too harsh for the street but great for racing. Then make a spec racing series, and either limit it to these new spec Z28 Camaros, or get together with Ford and Dodge to design equivalent GT and RT models to compete against. Sound like a winning idea to anyone else? |

so are we assuming a 3.6 v6 and 6.2 ss and a middle v8 motor as a......motor smaller than a 6.2????
or am i way off about this?

I think for the most part we see a V6, bottom V8 (detuned 6.2???), top V8 (fire breathing 6.2???)
