I had bought one for my 2011 after driving a few hundred miles. Back in October, I again emptied the catchcan (aprrox. half full?) about the time I was installing my plenum spacer. Inside the IM was about a teaspoon worth of oil (pre-catchcan). It would have been a lot worse with no catchcan.

Fast forward to 2 weeks ago: I get my new 2013 (2011 lost in Hurricane Sandy), and the first thing I order? An RX catchcan.

(Actually I had to hound the good folks at RevExtreme to change their website so I could order a backordered/out of stock item. )

I know a guy that has had one for a couple of years and only has a slight film on the inside of the can, he has never drained anything. It MIGHT be beneficial to the car but I can't justify the cost -vs- the benefit. It's just another thing to clutter up the engine bay in my opinion.

Sorry I didn't want to read all 5 pages to look for an answer. My apologies, I have edited my post so as not to piss anyone else off. Thank you.

Your friend must have bought a cheap e-bay can then, a good quality can like RX or Elite works great. I have the RX and have collected maybe 3 ounces in 3,000 miles. It is definitely worth the investment.
Feel free to browse some of the vendor explanations about the differences in the cheap e-bay cans and quality cans.

That could be the case, but it's just a can right? There are no moving parts, or electronics right? Maybe there is more to it than I thought. I never purchased one so I don't know much about them.

The ones that don't work are "Just a Can" two hoses that go into the can, the ones that work usually contain a check valve, sometimes two. A tube, baffels or some other means of keeping the distance between the inlet and outlet far enough apart that the vapors have time to condense and the liquid collect in the can before continuing on back to the intake.

Thanks for explaining that, I had no idea.

I certainly don't like the looks of them. If there was a place to mount it where it wasn't so conspicuous I think it would be better to be partially hidden. I really don't like the looks of it in the engine compartment, just my opinion.

I tried to explain the best I could but but I'm no expert. SC2150 is a vendor that sells these and has dissected a bunch of them to see what is inside. He has posted pictures and explained exactly how they work in many threads including this one. Check out post 84.

Hey OhioSS, please feel free to "PM" me about the issue. I have been "banned" from offering my opinion as it is different from "Gold Level Sponsers" and people who bought them. Only their opinion counts, so I don't dare offer anything that offends.

But I have quite the collection of people "PMing" me and maybe my First Ammendment rights can carry on there.
