Paint chipping off at bumper edge.

I have a 2017 ZL1 in White Summit with about 600 miles on it and the paint is coming off of the rear bumper on the edge of the seam where it comes to a point and meets the rear fender right behind the rear tires. It is coming off in the same place on both sides. I think the bumper is fitted too closely to the fender in that spot and they are rubbing together. The fender paint is fine, only the bumper paint is coming off. There are no other chips on the car. Do you think warranty will cover this?

I would go in there and raise hell. I had a poorly fit 16 SS with protruding body panels and I took it back ASAP and made them fix it.

This is happening to alot of people. GM needs to do something about it. Mine is doing by the rocker panel seam. My buddy's car is doing it as well. Seems to be exclusive to the ZL1

Yes warranty will cover it, but you need to get it in ASAP...

What will result if I take this into a dealer? Repaint? It's barely noticeable but I am having these issues about at both rockers. Very annoying and really don't want to take it in... but fear the paint will chip away more and more over time

I have this too. It's only on my right rocker at the moment. My car is red hot also.

C7 Corvettes have had this issue since 2014 sadly.

Unprotected steel rusts and it'll spread. Fix it now under warranty or wait until your warranty expires and fix it for $$$$.

I swear they need to thicken the paint on these cars just a little bit, it's too thin, my driver side door BARELY nicked the garage wall and left a HUGE chip on my door edge now :(

Get ready guys. I've been saying it for a while. If you do not protect the paint you'll be sorry.

2,000 mile trip. Tried to avoid trucks, etc. Picked up a small chip (less than1/8" diameter). Cost $830 to repair chip. $2600 to clear wrap front clip, mirrors and rockers.

Think about it. Wrap before it chips, otherwise you will be wrapping chips underneath the material.

Never been a "wrap" guy, but you can't even tell its on

I get it and I totally agree with fixing it now, but what will they do to fix it? Obviously it's chipping because it's too tight. Would they re-adjust the rocker and repaint it? I'm thinking it might be best to touch up by a quality auto collision shop? I just don't want to give it to the hands of the dealership and make the problem worse. It's barely noticeable, however, I notice it. Thanks for any advice.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but what body parts on the ZL1 are steel?

They have to sand back to good paint/primer and then prime/paint the sanded area. Ideally they would remove the bumper so they can get to the full edge of the fender. Then reinstall the bumper correctly so it doesn't happen again. Any competent shop can do this. Of course there are some shops that aren't.

IDK, prolly lots?

The fender in the pic sure looks like steel. Bumpers definitely aren't.
