2011 Camaro SS vs 2012 Charger R/T

My first son will be born this week, so I was forced to buy a more practical vehicle. I found the perfect mix of a family sedan and American muscle. After 3 years of Camaro ownership I made the trade. I realy wish I could have both, but I had to choose one. I traded for a 2012 Dodge Charger r/t, fully loaded. It stikered for $38,500, but after incentives and military discount it was $31,500. The performance is not up to par with my modded LS3, but it feels alot like the L99 I once owned. I now have a large affordable family sedan that can run 13's in the 1/4 mile. I will always remember the times I had in the Camaro.

Those new Chargers are actually pretty damn nice. They run good for nearly 4300 pound cars!!! I had a 2007 Charger SRT8 for a little over 3 years and loved every minute of it. The new Chargers are alot more nice than the last ones.

love the tail lamps on the rear of the charger. still not entirely on the bandwagon with the side sheet metal. the 390hp from the 5.7 is nice, and once somebody figures out the encryption on the engine management software, there is going to be some nice gains from simple aftermarket cams/tune packages I think. sorry you're leaving behind the 5th gen, but you can't complain about the charger when you need 4 doors and a sizeable back seat.

Nice.

Just curious why you chose the charger? If you don't mind me asking.

If you wanted performance something like the Camaro you should've checked the STi's or Evo's.

The new RT's are not to far off from an SS performance wise.

Nice car, looks great.

I still wanted American muscle and a family car. I actually tried to test drive and EVO, but the dealership treated it as a ferrari or something. I needed to get approved for financing before test driving. It is also a very small car. The interior of the charger is better than the others, so I was sold.

At first I didnt think so, but after reading the cherger forums there are people running 13.2 bone stock with the 12' RTs. Definetily L99 territory. After 300 miles the hemi has realy woken up. The tires light up at half throttle.

Other than having a much stiffer ride, the STi and the EVO also don't have as much interior room or trunk space, not to mention they lack the "luxury" features found on the Charger.

OP, good choice, it's a very nice car.

the 5.7 Hemi in the 10+ newer Charger's/Challey's are nice.
I had a 2010 w/ the Road and track performance group and that thing moved pretty good!

nice ride's btw! congrats on the "compromise"
