Radar Detectors?

Hi guys, are any of you using radar detectors with any success? I don't know if they are illegal in all provinces or not but I know people use them. Just looking for info.

Thanks
B

I have one but only use it in the US.
In Ontario the OPP can detect your detector so watch out.

I do in Texas. They work 50/50. On back roads where there is not lots of people they will wait until they see you to shot the radar at you so doesn’t do much good. Works well on busier highways where it can detect someone else getting checked ahead of you. Biggest area that is saves me is many small towns will go from 75 to 55 or even 45 with little to no warning and a cop sitting at the sign. I have gotten tickets without it and it has more than saved me the cost of it by warning me.

Few of my friends used the Redline for a few years now. It's illegal here too.
So far I think only 1 of them got caught with it by mistake.

I use an Escort 9500i with the GPS. Works great around town once it stores all the false alarms. Paid for itself on a few BC trips.

yeah I am not wanting one so I can terrorize the streets or anything. I just don't want to get nailed getting on it now and then or cruising on highway.

I run a Valentine one radar, and it's already paid for itself by saving me from myself

Here in MN they mostly use laser or "instant on" so unless they are running radar ahead of you it usually doesn't do much good but occasionally might help you. Other than that, I have friends who run the Valentine and like it.

yeah I am aware it is illegal, hence the need to try to not get caught.

For those that live in provinces that radar detectors are illegal. The Beltronic STI Magnum is 100% undetectable to the spetra RDD. I live in Ontario and use this one and it works great, i highly recommend it.
