Can I believe this?

I was thinking about getting the MBRP s7018409 catback to go on my 2014 1LE with SP headers and HF cats B4 getting it dyno tuned . They claim it will give 20 more HP and 24 lbs Torque over the factory suitcase muffs.
http://www.mbrp.com/products/dyno/S7022.pdf
This sounds like a nice bump in hp over stock .
So my question is ,can I believe it or not ?????
What with the weasel piss 91 octane gas in Phoenix ,I'm looking to get every thing out of the tune I can .

FWIW ,I installed the MBRP cat back system ( cat MIA ) on my tuned 05 2500 hd duramax 4x4 in 2005 and it has worked great and never needed any adjustments even after heavy off roading . Lowered exhaust temps quite a bit too . So I know they make good quality easy to fit systems . But that claim ,that I got off the exaust post on Camaro5 has me thinking it might be true . Anyone have any real first hand info ?

Under optimal conditions with a tune versus an untuned, stock Camaro, I believe it. Of course, the tune did most of the work.

MBRP, prove me wrong and send me an exhaust. I'll gladly correct myself!

I had the MBRP in both 3" flavors, the LS3 X pipe and the L99 resonated H (replaced the X section trying to kill the drone )on my LS3 car. Both droned sooo bad I sold them for scrap.

If you like not being able to talk to anyone in the car or hear the radio bass at 1500-1900 rpm, go for it.

You will get no power increase from any catback. Save your money, or if you choose do it for a change in sound. You'll shave a few pounds of weight too. Catback would be a good last mod to the exhaust since there is zero bang for your buck performance wise.

Yep, well known that a catback won't gain you any HP.

Im looking to change my exhaust for something else if you wanna try Magnaflow. The Magnaflows are very deep sounding, and they resonate my whole house when I pull into the garage. I guess it wakes my wife up, and since I may be going to a day schedule in the next couple months having to leave at 4am, I need a change. Thinking about trying to find a stock setup or a different type of exhaust.

This is the 2nd thread you've started looking for HP gains on a catback system. Bottom line is any gains will be negligible on ANY catback system.

The_Blur is correct the MBRP claim is probably more due to tune than anything else.

I may be off on this since I'm new to the Camaro game. But I would think that slight gains would be possible if the rest of the exhaust has increased in flow capability. For example if headers and hiflows and or no cats installed, I would think factory mufflers would start making a bit of a hinderence. I would think 5-10hp would be possible in a case like that.
Also, I haven't seen it discussed much, but if NPP can boost a C6 or C7 by 6hp, why wouldn't a free flowing muffler system on a Camaro also do the same? Of course a 6hp gain might not be considered hardly a gain by most. Negligible I guess. I'm use to fighting for every single HP I could scape up on my last vehicle. Though it was an import V6, and it couldnt dream of the gains our LS3's get from simple mods.

No. The tune did all the work. +5hp or -5hp for a catback. You might loose some or get some. Invest in a pulley, ported throttle body, ported intake before this IMO.

First statement you made is correct. You are off. Welcome to the game. Stock Catback won't impact performance at all, except for serious engine builds roughly exceeding 700rwhp.

Not disagreeing with you, just learning here. But again why does the NPP gain 6hp on a LS3 C6? Is a Camaro exhaust more free flowing than a C6?

Save money for the headers....thats where you wil get the better gains. Plus, you might find you like the sound with stock exhaust afterward. Dont be like so many here that catback first then add headers.....only to find it too loud and drone city. Like someone has said before,....exhaust goes from front to back.
