Electrical Problems "Help"

I have a 2010 Camaro SS and received it in May 2009. Ever since I have had the car there has been a problem with the electrical system. I am now on my 3rd battery. When I let out on the clutch the head lights dim and the dash lights dim. There is a draw on the battery but I don't know where to begin to look. I did put a battery tender on the car but the battery continues to discharge. I can not be the only person with this issue, has any one else had this problem and what did you do?

The lights will dim from the alternator turning slower and a bad alternator will be worse at slow speed.

You can find a draw on the battery by disconnecting one of the wires and put a multimeter in series with the wire and the battery. First make note of the current draw when first hooked up.

Now with the meter still in series with the battery and cable, remove one fuse at a time until you note a large decrease in current draw.

One thing you should also do is remove the alternator from the battery connection and see if the draw goes way down. There is a good chance it is bad and causing the problem.

If you don't have one of these, you'll either ruin your meter or never get the proper power down sequence to complete on the car so your test will be useless. Always with electrical concerns on these Camaros check the positive cable jump post/ junction under the hood for a good, tight connection and inspect the cables for arching (burn marks where the cable terminals touch).
