Castrol Edge 5w-30 vs Mobil1 5w30

Has anyone used Castrol Edge full Synthetic Oil in their ZL1 over the Mobil1?

Costco up here has it on for almost 1/3rd cheaper than the Mobil1.

Any comments? I change my oil before I put the car away for the winter. And never put enough mileage on the car to need to change it during the summer months.

Penzoil will work just fine. No experience with Castrol but I guess yes, why not, any synthetic oil would work just fine for the stock engine

Unless someone chimes in that has scientifically tested these oils and has some data to back it up, then all your going to get people telling you what oil they have used. If you do a search youll find way to many "oil threads"

I'm a Mobil 1 guy...all the others good as well, but to me, it came with Mobil 1 so why switch ? BTW...I don't track my car, could make a difference.

I track the car about once a year. I'm leaning towards the Pennzoil platinum based off my 'internet search' and because price is very good in canada. Half the price of the mobil1.

I just want to make sure no one has had any issues with it.

It has the dexos logo approval etc. Is there a specific spec our cars need to meet? or is the dexos a blanket stement covering all that ?

Yeah...if you want to go off the deep end of oil analysis and discussion, start reading the forums at bobistheoilguy.com

For that matter, start sending in samples to blackstone for testing and actual analysis of how your oil is performing in your engine.

If it's Dexos certified, then it meets the standard specifications GM has established for oil in all it's vehicles.

Why not just stay with the recommended synthetic blend, unless you have a heavily mod car???And you do need to change the oil more often...When you put it in hibernation and about mid spring since you do not put a lot of miles on it...
