3:91’s?

Just have a question about 3:91’s. My car is a 2010 SS manual with the LS3. Here in the next couple weeks it’s getting an intake, headers and a tune. I’m in debate on if I should get 3:91’s as well. The reason I’m asking is because I don’t take the car to the drag strip. And if I did do any racing it would be at roll events with friends like the Pocono roll events. And those are 50-60 mph starts. I know they get you out of the hole faster but that isn’t really how I use the car. So would 3:91’s help or be noticeable? Thank you all.

Seat of the pants feel you will enjoy the 3.91's. As long as you aren't going FI I would strongly consider 3.91's

I would do it, Camaros need as much gear as you can get.

Is it just a seat of the pants feel or does it make the car a little quicker? I’m leaning towards getting them done.

On the street, you can ease it out in first with no throttle. First gear is a quick shift up. It doesn't give you much. The rest of the shift points come up pretty quick too. Highway speed, you can drive in 6th at 55 without lugging it. For that matter, you'll be looking to go to 6th at around 55 under normal conditions. 100 mph comes up way too easy! I liked mine but never raced it.

I think I’m going to go ahead and get the gears. Now will I have a ton of wheel hop with I them? I have some fairly new Nitto all seasons on the car now. If need be I’ll grab some new tires for it.

Ive had 3.91s in my car for about 4 years now, & would never go back, They make the car so much more fun & driveable. Even if you are not at the track. Also I would think that it would extend clutch life as not having to slip as much to get the car rolling.

3.91's made a huge difference on my car. These are big cars and need more gear to get them moving. Before the swap 5th and 6th gears were so high I could drive in 4th on the expressway. Now I can use all the gears and don't have to be doing 100 to get it in 6th. Do it before you get the tune, so you don't need to retune.

Just do like I did and install a 4200-4500 stall and keep the stock gear!! She really gets off the line very quickly, and I can still cruise at 75mph and keep the revs down, and save fuel too.. lol.

My car is a manual but if it wasn’t I would definitely get a stall. So from what I’ve heard 3:91’s are the way to go. So that’s the plan along with bolt ons. Thank you all.

I run 4.10s manual with cam, headers, etc. I love them cause it really seems to put my car into that sweet rpm range.

If you are staying NA, go for 4.10 gears. They make the car feel much lighter and it really helps get the car moving. You are leaving performance on the table if you install 3.91s, but they will be way better than the 3.45s currently in the car.

Yes it makes the car faster as long as you are hooking.
