Best way to find out: Find one to test drive. Failing that, i haven't heard the stock radio myself. The upgraded Boston Acoustics system however is GREAT. I feel 0 need to upgrade the system (but that could just be me). As for location: Doors (lower part) and in the rear (right under the rear window). Not sure if the stock system has any more than that...

The BA system does lack some kick for sure. I was pretty let down with it.

Ive heard both. The BA is a tad better but not worth the dough.

Play around with your equalizer and it will sound much better. My BA system thumps pretty hard. Of course not as hard as it would if you had some subs though

I personally hate subwoofers. IMO they are just as worthless and selfish as those ultra bright headlights people put in their cars. What is the point of a sub anyway? To annoy the guy next to you? I feel like shooting at some of these guys w/ the bass so loud it rattles the glass in the showroom.

*whew*

That felt good to say.... and I don't want to hijack this thread.... So anyway, almost all the Camaros I have delivered were 2LT or 2SS, as such I have no frame of reference.... I just wanted to complain a bit.

I've had cars with both the base and BA systems.

I am not an audiophile by any means and the base system is fine. The BA is noticeably richer and deeper, however. For me it would be worth the option to get it. But I also don't think either system would satisfy the real enthusiast. There will be owners that have to have mod the audio just like those that have to mod the engine.
