I'll take the mission on! Haha. I'll start scouting for a Louisville stop, away from the expo center where the street rod nationals are. Lol.

Edit: I wonder if we can meet at the Louisville Slugger's Field. I'll find out if there is a gate that gets closed or anything cause it's a large parking lot right before you go across the river into Indiana.

That would be awesome Mackman, great photo op. Wonder how hard it would be to get police escort through that area, sounds like it may get ugly.

It looks like it's in a downtown area or just outside of downtown so we might get caught up in traffic there. Police escort would be awesome, but I'm not sure how we would get that setup.

In the interest of safety, they may honor that request.

Hey peeps, My name is Dex. I have been following this thread and I am the one with the new train of thought from Atl. I thought Tysen would have introduced this earlier, but it seems to me that the I-65 route would be much more convenient and quicker for the majority. I provides a better connect point for other groups from La. to Fl. to hook up with us near Nashville.........Then on to Loiuseville for other hook ups. We can use the same departure and meet time.

I was going to bring up the Nashville route when the thread started, but me being from that area it would have seemed a little biased.

I just sent an email to the Louisville Metro Police Department, reaching out for some information on a police convoy. I'm now scouting out the gas stations near the baseball field. Hope this works out!

Edit: Found a Thortons not far away. Looks like it has a large parking lot as well.

New maps. Had to do some math because of the time zone change, and I updated the times on the Knoxville route according to Google maps.

Working on some thoughts now........we might need to leave a bit earlier, as I know some of us use more gas than others

I think we can make an "executive decision" and choose the Nashville route, with the KY folks meeting up in Louisville, but I definitely want to stay AWAY from the traffic

I'm trying to promote this some to the other KY drivers. I sent Jim from Derby Camaro Club a message asking to send it out to his members to see if they can meet up and help with things.

Only 35 days left!

FYI Regarding travel thru Louisville!
WARNING: There is MAJOR construction on the I-65 bridge that crosses from Louisville to Indiana, according to current reports, it will be down to ONE lane heading North at the time of CamaroFest, so the timeline may be a bit off for the Lou to Indy trip! Traffic in Louisville is a mess all day, everyday right now on all interestates that cross thru the city including I-65, I-64 & I-71!
Alternate route: From the South or East, folks might want to divert onto the Watterson Expressway (I-264) West bound, follow it around the city and take I-64 W (St. Louis) to cross the river, then take the Indiana side loop (I-265) back over to I- 65 to avoid the Kennedy Bridge!
Please let me know if I can help facilitate anything around the Louisville area.
Jim

Proposed detour adds 15 minutes to travel time, but I don't think we want to sit through all that traffic.
