On the interstates I average about 22+ mpg at about 70-75 mph. If I try real hard-
a steady 70 mph with the cruise control I've gotten it up to 23.4 (2SS, L99).

if i lived in a more rural area, i have no doubt i could average 24-25mpg, but where i live, it's hard to maintain a constant speed, no matter where you are.
I have the same problem in town, I think the guys monitoring the traffic cams see a Camaro coming they stop them just so they can sit and admire such a great looking car.

23 mpg average on a 1500 mi road trip, top down 70 percent of the time. Avg. speed was 65. Cruising between 73-78, with some spirited passing in the 90's.

I can honestly say, when I had my SS, I didn't give two shits what the economy was. Just like I couldn't care less how much horsepower my 2012 Civic has.

I will say the Jeep Wrangler I traded the Camaro for is a hog. And you guessed it, I don't care!

Please explain "properly".

I would think when properly driving a 400+ horsepower muscle car, you'd see poor economy.

haha one time I basically let the car roll down a good 5-10 km mountain I was travelling on got like 49-55 mpg then the dream ended when I hit regular flat road traffic again :(

But in all seriousness these cars get fantastic mileage!!! Around town I am getting roughly 21 mpg as well and this is with some heavy footed driving! Highway wise WOW. Getting roughly 31 mpg pretty sweet IMO.

I sold a 1996 Chevy Caprice (Auto/ LT1) that got an honest 25MPG on the highway at 70/75 using air. Very efficient engine with rear wheel drive - the last of them for the Caprice Classic it would shift from 2 to 3rd gear at 78 mph and still had 4th overdrive for cruise. Amen.
