Anyone running Valvoline Durablend 5w-30.. I smell a weird oil burning when I'm on the highway. Should I switch to Mobile 1 pure synthetic ? I've got the V6 LS. I've checked for leaks and what not and nothings leaking. The computer isn't going crazy or anything. In the manual it doesn't tell me to use sythetic oil.

Not required to run it, but it certainly wouldn't hurt.... I'm all in for Amsoil myself, rear end, M6 tranny and engine.

I figured it out. I spilled a little oil on the side of the engine block. I'm a dumby.

Is there a unbiased organization for rating Motor Oil? Like Consumer Reports does on things like toasters?
I have used Havoline since the 80s with no problems even on my work truck that was 3K miles every 3-4 weeks for a couple of years due to jobsite location. My Silverado had Pennzoil from the dealership for the first year but I switched to Havoline for DIY.
Once I get my Camaro past the dealership break-in oil change I plan on doing it myself, I have seen AmSoil, RP and I am sure Lucas has something too, I will probably use a Havoline/Fram combo unless I can find a good stats breakdown that tells me otherwise.

I've used Quaker State since I started driving 37 years ago and I've never had an engine problem. Anyone have a problem with that?

You shouldn't be worried unless you're really pushing the car hard. I would just change to 5w30 on the next oil change.

A lot of people seem to be getting in the usual forum pissing match of this or that is best.

doesn't take much common sense in automotive to know that there isn't a best that suits everyones needs, or what they do with the car. many good brands mentioned, but not gonna work for everyones wallet or driving style. lets be real here.

with that being said, I use whats worked for me, and 244,033 miles in my 07 charger I traded in on my 13 Camaro. So far in the 1st year I've had it, ive done over 40,000 miles. and half way through my second year, im already at 13,000 miles for year #2. i'll definitely hit 100,000 miles this year.

Quantum Blue Custom blended oil. and I've run an oil analysis after each change over the years.

this was the oil change back in may with 13,500 miles. has a full picture readout sheet of what was in the oil after analysis.
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=408428

and I just recently did the oil change last week, and they received the sample on this Monday the 26th, so I should have those results by next Monday if not sooner, which was a 17,348.6 mile interval. Good or bad, I have no problem posting the results.
