Yea man, the snow has been insane....not as bad as last year. I actually had to cut my lock off of my storage unit, couldn't find the keys anywhere,

I went to the storage unit and emptied out the trunk of some parts today, took a short idle video clip today, mainly for myself, with the bad weather and all I am starting to forget what it sounds like lol

The sound is a little off but its close

Best thing I can tell you is call a few speed shops and price the build. Not really comfortable publicly stating how much I dropped.

By the time you do the turbos, the injectors, the guages, the fuel, the meth, the diff, the axles, the suspension, the DRs, the tune, and the clutch plan on spending $16K+. If you do the work yourself you can save $2-3K. And of course if you are auto, you will not need a clutch, but if you go big power you will might need to spend more than you would on a clutch.

I am not saying the OP spent that amount, but I lie awake thinking about it sometimes. I own all aspects of the drivetrain now, no going back to the dealer for anything in that area under warranty. Also my $60K 1LE is worth maybe $30K tops. If I sell I will take a huge bath. So I will keep this car even if the 2016 Camaro is the best muscle pony car ever built or even if the new GT350 is all that. I also find myself lusting after the Hellcats. But I will not be buying any of those.

Another drawback is not just any garage can work on this car. It is more of a toy than a real car.

Was it fun? Yea. Was it worth it? Hmmm. I love drag racing, but just the fun T&T version. My car is big hit in the staging lanes and I have surprised many who thought all 5th gen Camaros are slow. And sometimes in the winter I go out to the garage and just stare at the beast living in there. Life is short.

But knowing what I know now would I do it again? Hmmm.

I would say if you have to go into deep debt to do this it is a very bad idea, unless you can be very sure this is what you really really want. Sometimes just dreaming the dream is better than living it.

I am north of that number on this build. Most that have done this type of work, know pretty good how much this stuff costs and Frax is no exception. One thing I did well was finding good deals on parts. Some things I bought from C5 classifieds, some things were new. Even the new stuff I was able to get at a discounted rate. If your wanting to know how much to save for to do a build like this, the answer is, as much as you can!

I will simply add to what the others have said that:

Come up with a plan...

Find a builder you like and trust...

Discuss with them the best options...

Plan the build...

Determine the cost....

Add several thousand for misc items that inevitably arise...

Start saving for broken parts...

Stock power can break parts and any forced induction will find any weak links. There isn't much that hurts more than building a project car and having it sit due to broken parts and believe me I have a trail of broken parts behind me... Yard ornaments are no fun..

Sane power can be managed for a very reliable FI build. My trail of trash is due to searching for insane power levels...

Js...

Nice ride OP. Matt and FSP built, or rebuilt I should say, my last Camaro. Top notch service down there, they will be doing my 1LE next.

I have been thinking a lot about going this year, but I need to work out hotel arrangements. Spending cash is tight after the build.....We should meet up in Cincinnati.

I am "north" of that number too. Can't wait for warmer weather to put some hurtin on some Mustangs and maybe a Hellcat driver who is still learning to drive. It will all be worth it.

Good luck with the results of your build.

I can imagine. I'm putting the agp kit on myself in March. Only doing clutch for now, will do axles, drive shaft, and transmission as time and money permits.

Thanks man! I'm looking forward to some DR's and 17 inch wheels for some better grip.

Where ever it ends up lol. I have two s256 turbos and my tuner said around 600-650 with no additives. I do have water/meth to add so I don't know if that changes anything. I'll be happy where ever it maxes out at a safe level.
