This is largely or to the partnership with Toyota in the 80s until the bankruptcy. At the time GM filed, their quality was the best it had been in 30 years. Their past just caught up with them.

I was so happy to see this! I took that survey, and I have had virtually no issues with my 1LE, other than the occasional stereo gremlin, but those are so rare, it doesn't bother me. Congrats Chevrolet, and thanks for an awesome car!

It is good news for our resale values but I personally don't trust anything from J.D. Powers as their awards are bought - If you pay them enough money they will find or create an award that you are the best in. It is the same pay to play racket as consumer reports and the BBB. I don't trust any of those self imposed authorities.

With that opinion I do still think my Camaro is a very well built car and I like it a lot compared to any other car I have ever owned. I am not so sure about some of the other Chevy's.

I disagree with you a bit. I know for a fact that feedback from the JD Power survey gets directly related back to the automakers. Once they recieve the feedback alot of improvements are made based on that survey.......now Im talking more about the IQS survey but both surveys are considered.

My only issue on my 2015 (which is basically a 2014) is that usually motor blower noise.

Look around the site, you'll find tons of people who have issues with their 5th gen. But those are anecdotes, not statistics. 1 person in a very enthusiastic, self selected group complaining about something doesn't really tell you how many don't have the same problem. Anecdotes are great for story telling, but nearly useless when you're trying to spot trends or see how common a problem is.

This is why companies like JD power spend time and money doing owner surveys instead of just browsing internet forums looking up complaints.

This isn't the 'Absolutely Nothing At All Ever Fails In Any Car In Any Way' award. If it was, it would never be awarded. Its how many problems owners of 3 year old cars have had in the past year.

The average for 2014 model Chevrolet's is 142 problems per 100 vehicles. So overall, each car should be expected to have 1 or 2 issues. Some will be better than that, which is great for those owners. And some will be worse, which sucks for those owners.

Its pretty much the same for everybody. The best 2 brands averaged 110 per 100. The worst were 209 & 298 per 100. Overall industry average was 156. So just about everybody could expect 1 or 2 things to go wrong in their 3rd year of ownership (Fiat owners could expect about 3.

my 2011 SS has been flawless

I daily drive (even in the Canadian winter) my 2011 2SS/RS OEM M6 Hurst shifter Camaro daily and other than oil, brakes, tires and gas, it's been a low maintenance car since I took delivery. I had a 2010 LT that spun a bearing at 10,000 KM's but that was swiftly taken back by the new GM.

Being a long time GM guy, owning Chevelles, Impalas, and a couple of Pontiac's over the year, I can tell you that they are now world class in the quality dept and that goes through all segments/classes. I do love domestics, for all the right reasons and I love cars generally so I have owned other brands but down deep, I am a GM man. I love my Camaro, it keeps me young(er)~!

The perma-grin effect pictured above by a good buddy giving me a ride in my Camaro!
Used 75 Camaro = $3500
Rolling restoration over 10 years = $5000
$5 of gas burned in 10 seconds = Priceless!

They factored in all the people they surveyed. Appears it's not a big issue.

And your point? It's still engineered/manufactured in America and ASSEMBLED in Canada.

Having had 2 faultless 5th gens and recently a 6th gen, I can clearly understand why they were chosen. I've been a GM fan for far too many years to count and I can tell you very honestly, I've never had an issue with any of my cars new or used. My Fords on the other hand, were disappointing not only in performance, but also in build quality.

Hoooorah, GM!
