Thinking of buying a 2001 Camaro with LS1, could use some input

what are some solid bolt ons for a ls1 that could get me pushing around 400-450 horsepower reliably?

Bolt on will never get you to 450 on an LS1 not even at the crank.

Heads and Cam and LT headers and exhaust with a good tune should get you close you already get the LS6 intake manifold so if you want any increases there you will need to aftermarket like FAST or something similar as you have a very low hood line and the cowl/firewall overhang l to think about.

Now your going to need to swap that whimpy 10 bolt with an after market rear end like a 9" or Dana 60 or a 12 bolt.

Then you need a clutch if your a 6 speed or a torque convertor if your A4 depending on cam choice a 3800 stall with a lock up converter should get it done.

Then again you could always bolt on a Pro Charger or Nitrous Kit I think 8-10 lbs should be safe or 175 shot max.

Don't forget to buy the safety stuff if your going to spray so you don't grenade it.

400 at the crank is headers exhaust and aftermarket lid with the free ram air mod and ported throttle body which I forgot in my previous post.

Plus a good tune.

The LS1 heads are a big limiting factor compared to the later ls3 style castings, as well as the smaller displacement. I agree with the above.

I got my bolt on only 99TA down the 1/4 in 12.1 at 111 mph on a 1.68 60ft

This car had 100k on it when I bought it and 122k when I sold it my goal was 11's for 15k with the price of the car $6,250 included.

Here is what I did

Bought some cheap 97/98 Vette Wagon wheels(painted flat black no caps and they looked good) Cheap Summitomos up front MT DR's out back 275/40/17

No front sway bar cheap Lakewood drag shocks and used BMR drag springs up front

Rear WS6 sway bar and brand new Bilsteins with stock springs and used 12 bolt with new 373 gears and used TQ arm fully adjustable.

Used FTI triple disc lock up 3800 stall converter

Cheap SS Headers 1 3/4 into 3" collectors to cat less mid pipe to used SS Magna Flow exhaust off a 3rd Gen...same stuff as 4th

Free ram air/cold air mod SLP Lid with home ported MAF and TB into a used LS6 intake manifold

Removed rear seat spare tire carpet under pad and scraped off some body glue/seam sealer

Swapped in cloth Camaro front seats out of a junk yard V6 as they were full manual and lighter

Full power everything including A/C and T Tops

Mail order Tune from Frost (Steve W) thanks to Steve it was great.

I never dynoed it I just made apox 800 dragstrip passes over the course of 5 or 6 years

What would be some good heads that could free up circulation?

I've never owned a LS1 4th gen, but I did own a LT1 4th gen for almost a decade. Cam only with supporting mods LT1s typically put down 330-360rwhp depending on cam size and if A4/M6. HCI LT1s can reach 400+ rwhp. So that said a cam only LS1 shouldn't have any problem hitting 400 at the wheels. These numbers are through the factory 10 bolt rear, a 12 bolt or 9" would soak up more power.

My H/C LT1 ran 12.8 in the quarter that's when I gave up and got an LS

Can the stock rear axel in the 4th gen LS1 Camaros handle 400-450 crank horsepower?

If your driving around spinning your street tires yes.

If you bolt on slicks or DR's and hook no way especially an M6
