72 z28 looking for wheel/tire combo
Hey everyone,
My dad just picked up a 72 z28. It's been restored, but there's a few things still needing to be tinkerer with. Figuring out some weird electrical issues regarding horn, rear lights and random dash things have been solved. Also seatbelts and a few other odds and ends. It's been a nice project car for us. So far we've added the traction bars, Monroe rear airshocks, Monroe fronts, plug wires to match blue. We're looking at wheels and tires now. We want to go aggressive, but not over the top. Looking for that classic fat tire rear on some classic wheels. My dad has decided on American Racing Outlaw wheels, AR61 model. Looking at something like an 8 inch wheel up front, 10 inch in the rear. It looks like tires are hard to find up in Canada. We're trying to get a 285/70/15 for the rear and sticking with a 225 in front. Brand doesn't matter much, but we're looking for a street tire and NOT a slick or radial. TLDR Looking for opinions on a classic, slightly agressive wheel tire combo. Thinking 285/70/15 rear, 225/70/15 front. 15x8 -19 front, 15x10 -38 rear. American Racing Outlaw AR61 wheels. Fitment issues?? Pics for reference? TIA Last edited by Drifterolly; 01-20-2025 at 11:18 PM. Reason: Added wheel photoshop pic |

![]() I've been looking at my usual tire stores, but I'll check tirerack. Firstly, I'm more interested in knowing if the wheel/tire choices seem fine in terms of fitment for this car. Keeping in mind we added air shocks in the rear. We don't want to flare fenders or experience any rubbing. |

On my 80 Z28 the largest tire I ran was a 245/60/15 on the back and 225/6015 fronts and they were tight.
I found this thread in an online search https://www.camaros.net/threads/2nd-...combos.144214/
