Steering Shaft Removal

Does anyone know (bonus points for video link or other written instructions) on how to remove/disconnect the steering shaft in the engine bay?

I gouged up the paint pretty bad while removing the headers and I want to repaint the whole unit (also I am trying to decide on ARH and if so, I was told I need to remove the shaft regardless.


I have the vaguest idea based on how it looks but really hate spending an hour do shit I don't need to only to find out there was a different (possibly easier) way to do it.

I took the lower pinch bolt out then slid the shaft back a little then rubber bungeed it to the side to get my ARH's in, did not remove the shaft from the column so can't comment on that.

Do not turn the shaft or the column very far, Not sure if these column's still have air bag clock spring or not but if they do and you rotate them to far it will brake. I didn't take the chance. Good Luck
